I personally would go with Coan. I know lots of guys that run them behind big inch BBC's and Mopars with no issues.
As for converter, I would recomend talking to Craig at Coan Transmissions.
I used a Neal Chance converter previously and the lockup clutch came apart in no time at all. Most people have great luck with them, not me. I wouldnt use one in anything ever again.

It was the first one that he had ever heard of that came apart
. He didn't even want to give me another one to try. He just refunded my money and I switched the converter to a custom Coan setup. All issues were gone, and works like a champ.My race car is getting a custom 8" Coan converter. Ordering it this weekend at the World Drag Expo in Chicago.

Wow.... i wonder what it was....... I havent had one problem and im putting ALOT of power thru mine and ive driven the car everyday for the last 6 months.... 200 street miles week....
