VHT Trackbite on the streets?
Has anyone used VHT Trackbite on the streets? If so, how does it work? I heard some people light it on fire, is this effective?

i have seen a lot of people use giant torches to heat and melt the big rubber patches the street. Never seen people light VHT on fire though.. I think it works well (only tried it once). It was sprayed directly on my tires, i did a little burnout and rolled out. Worked well, i hooked better than i ever have on 17in DRs.

With your expirence using it, would you say it would work on an unprepped street? Also, would you recommend spraying it on my tires or on the street or both?

It is still hard to get a car with a lot of power to get a car to hook on street tires but:
If you use a torch, just heat the **** out of the ground for as far as you have time/patience to prepare.
Then pour a small puddle of VHT for each tire to spin in. Do your burn out in it, and then spin out of it. Do this a couple few times. Then launch about a foot in front of the puddle. The ground should be warm and sticky. You can also use a pesticide spray bottle and put a light mist down for the first 40ft or so if you choose. Just be prepared to ruin the sprayer after each use! Sometimes if you do this, another friend of yours might still be torching the lane after soem wht has been sprayed....and it may catch fire a bit. No biggie, it will go out or else you go BACK TO THE FUTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've never seen any of the older/faster guys spray it on their tires.

Another thing, when the VHT is used without torching the road is it effective? Also, where can I pick up one of those torches that I can keep in my car? How long do they last?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

You dont have to torch the road for it to work. Plus it draws attention. You will have slightly better traction with a 90% chance the cops will get called.
If I was on a true street tire, not a drag radial, I would put down the VHT with a spray gun nice and thick for about 50 feet. Dont puddle it just a good thick coat. I true street tire normally gets oily if they get hot. If you do a burn out make it short and sweet, just enough to get the rocks off the tires. I would def do some practice attemps before hand to see what works the best.
If your on a drag radial, I would do a nice burn out in a puddle of the VHT, and put down a coat of VFT in the launch area. Just make sure its sticky before you lauch the car. It takes 20sec or so to get sticky depending on how thick its put down.
It was all the rage to prep the road for a race a few years ago in the area I live, but it has died out the last few years. Takes too long, and raises the risk of getting caught. For the most part both sides are looking to get in and out quickly, so its agreed before hand for neather side to do any prep.

you go prep the road 15 minutes before you take the cars there to make a pass so your not sitting there in the racecar/streetcar attracting attention. by the time you get there and its time to make a pass, it will be sticky. during test passes on a very secluded road in my neighborhood, which is also a very popular spot for street racing, i managed to dead hook using transbrake on a 300 shot. my car at the time was cutting low 1.3 60's. so yeah......it works!

Do your burnout in a small patch of pure VHT and roll out into the prepped street. I have a 2 gallon sprayer with teflon seals with the mixed up VHT.
Pure VHT will not dry quickly when needed. It stays in goo form for quite some time.
I light the mixed stuff up to help it dry faster. Torching works great for this.

Are you using 50/50 mixture of VHT and MEK? I was told that you can use straight VHT or (VHT and alcohol mix so you don't clog the sprayer) and let it sit for a minute and then u'll hook good, is that wrong? Also, we can't light the streets up here, the risk of getting caught is too high. Is it effective without fire? Will the mixture of MEK & VHT clog the sprayers?
What is the benefit of using MEK instead of alcohol for the mixture?
Thanks for all the info guys, I'm learning a lot!!
