I've been rearended before at a light (in my '92), those supports are a good thing.

Feel the same way, esp how these damn liberal hippies drive in Austin. (not worth a fock).

However, I pulled out the front one on my primary TRACK car. It sees a little street mileage, but nothing substantial. I have the back support still in and it will stay. I figure I might be able to avoid/evade **** in front of me, but no control over morons hitting the car in the back. All of our other cars still have their bumper supports. Just not worth it on cars that see mostly street use IMHO.

I did it on my 95Z28 and it weighed about 30lbs fog lights and all.
I want to do it on my 99 Formula but the nose on the birds is so big and bulky, everyone I've seen done sagged, and even more so at speed.
I, like a few others on here am thinking about making a support bracket to help support the nose.

heres the aftermath of when you take out the rear bumper support and then get rearended by a mid 80s fullsize f250. Nothing was cracked. not even a taillight cover but the whole trunk hole was pushed in like 8''s and tweked my right frame rail inwards like a 1'' or so and i couldnt pop my hatch...

I did mine today and the total I removed was 50lbs. The bumper support was around 23-24lbs. But when you add every thing up the horns, swaybar, swaybar brackets, bumper support, some of the plastic, the driving lights, windshield washer tank it was 50lbs.
Not bad for a few hours of work. Next is the rear bumper support.
I weighed the parts on a digital postal scale I use for filling my bottle.
