Prostar backspacing - question
I have some 15x10 5.5" BS Prostars. I know for 15x10 the usual is to go 7.5" BS. Besides the wheels sticking out more on the 5.5" BS, whats the difference? I'm trying to figure out if I can run the 5.5" BS ones or not. I am about stock ride height. Would there be any difference in how much the calipers need to be grinded down? I have already ground mine down some and there is a lot left to go for it to clear, we stuck in 1/2" worth of wheel spacers and it barely clears with it already ground down alot. I am not gonna run wheel spacers in the rear but that's a lot of material to cut out. Anyone got pictures of how much it took you?

i am about to grind my calipers today. and am going to take pics. i too have the same size and backspacing as u do. but i think i have a bigger tire. 325x50x15. anyway i will post pics of the entire process in a matter of hours.
other than sticking out a little more u should be fine with the backspacing.

Awesome fastgm, if you can get some pictures from the rear and side showing how much they stick out that'd be awesome. I have 4.11 gears so I won't be running a 28" tire, it'll be a 26".

While it will technically bolt on, its going to look HORRIBLE. Also isn't there some NHRA rules regarding how far a wheel can stick out?

I'm pretty sure he's only doing it for track use, like me. I don't go to a track enforces that NHRA ruling anyway. I could care less how much it sticks out, we had it on there and it doesn't look bad, actually looks kinda cool cause it looks like I have HUGE *** tires.

A 28 inch tire would be too much, you will hit the fender on the top of the tire. Even rolling the lips will not help.
You need the 7.5 BS or do what some of us have done including me and shorten the rear 2.5 to 3 inches. Looks alot better as well.

I thought it was cool till I saw your setup.......then it just looked wrong.
I have a shortened strange 12 bolt sitting in the garage now though.

WS6.Jay-
I can help you fix that problem, by buying your rears so you can get new ones!
Those are THE backspacing I set my rear end up for, and I could always use a spare set. PM if interested
