Default lightweight battery

I have looked and looked and can't find a "bolt in" lightweight battery for sidepost terminals. Are they even avalible? What are other options as far as lightweight batteries go? What is the lightest? I found one that was 6lbs once but can't seem to find it again. Most seem to be in the 14-16lb area (Odessey/Dynabatt)

hmm after a quick google search i found this

http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2353060

What I've found out.
DEKA is the manufacturer of the Braille labeled battery - fact.

the Braille and the Deka etx14 are the exact same box - fact.

the Braille and the Deka are the same design (based off of the schematic)

the Braille and the Deka weigh the exact same - 11.4 lbs - fact

the Deka tests the same as what the Braille is claimed to test at - 360-400CCA- fact.
and this

http://www.stealth316.com/2-dynabatt.htm

hmm looks like i found a new battery to get....SWEET

Sounds like a good deal.
What do you use to hold it down? (and pass Tech)
Is it going to cause you starting problems in extreme heat or cold?

IMO its not worth the hassle of relocating a light weight battery to the rear. you will be adding more weight with the extra box, cutoff switch & cable u have to run to the back. more trouble that its worth. thats just my opinion though, its your car. dont ever let someone tell you what to do with your car. Def not worth it to put the light weight battery in the rear of the car. The extra cable etc will put you close to the same weight as your old battery. Plus since the light weight battery is going to have less cranking amps, its not the best idea to locate the battery to far away from the starter. I have had the PC680 in my car for 2 years mounted in the stock location and its worked great.

Thanks, But I have 2 things for you...

First as some others have pointed out you don't want to move a small lightweigh battery to the rear, too many issues normally ensue...

Secondly if you are looking for something to relocate, why be concearned if it has side posts???

Intresting. I was hoping to clean the engine bay up a little but I guess it makes sense not to add all the wire weight.
I was going to find one with sideposts so I could use GM style connectors.

You can use the oddesy without the adapters, simply put little slits in the ends of the conectors and pull the connectors out of the plastic. Then get the correct screws for the 680 and use washers. If you ever go back to the old style terminals, just pop them back in the plastic.

I just picked up a Interstate battery brand (BSL1116) of the oddessy style battery for a 30 pack. I'm going to dive it a shot. The only difference is that it's got different terminals, so i'll put on new cable ends and it should be good to go.
