Default Which Trailer Would You Buy?

Looking at the SLOAN QUIK-LOAD STEEL 1900lbs $4500ish (like texas rollback)
or
NICE ALUMINUM TRAILER. 1300lbs $5500ish

I will be towing with a 1/2ton Chevy or my 06 Tacoma for now. Will the weight make much difference?

Dont own a trailer yet. But both look nice weight on the one is really nice.The roll back would have alot of advantages if you go to alot of differnt tracks

Those are some expensive trailers.

I would do a 18" flat 6" dove tail with 4" drop axles.

I've priced them locally for 3200 with ramps and utility box, d-ring tie downs and electric brakes.

Wood deck trailer with a dove tail for like $2200. I've said it before, but I'm sure just like the last time someone with too much money will chime in and bash the wood deck.

look into a bri-mar (www.bri-mar.com) I have an open deck 18 foot with a beaver tail, and I'm very happy with it. The trailer weigh's 1750 lbs roughly, and I am able to tow it with my 3175 lb car with my 1500 4.7 powered ram with no major problems.

They are alot cheaper then what you are looking at, the beaver tail is lowe enough so that loading is no problem at all, and with the open deck, you could get under the car if you had to at the track.

Go with an enclosed!!! Pace sells a 24' with the big 5500 axles for around 7500. You could get it cheaper if you went with a little smaller axles.

Yeah probably a heater too huh? I would too if I lived in Alaska.

I'm actually considering enclosed now, but gotta find a 3/4 ton. This is not the easiest decision. I might just get an el cheapo for now until I find the truck.

Lot of extra cash for a few hundred pounds. I had a Bri-mar a while back and it was an excellent race car open trailer. Well made, light weight, reasonable and the open deck is great for checking things under the car before and after racing. Plus it has a long dovetail and ramps so no dragging the nose on the ramps, I could open the doors on the car without removing the fenders also.

But the tilt trailers are nice, kinds pricey though.

I got my 2003 Carson Racer Delux for $7K. It is an enclosed 24ft trailer with 10k lbs axles, fully finished interior, cabinets and wired for 110ac. It came with lots of nice little upgrades like extra D-drings, etrack and interior flooring.

You can get good deals on used trailers if you catch the season right and look/wait for a good deal.

Mine was 1800 when I bought it, they are 25-2600 these days (dealer sets pricing). Steel prices went through the roof a few years ago. Another nice thing about them is they are powdder coated and not painted. I dont own that one anymore but after 5 years of sitting outside and being used a ton it still looks great. Wish I would have kept it, getting tired of the big enclosed..

I think an open center will work real nice for me....
Ill prob try and find one used on racing Junk.....
I guess ya just have to look..... and im not scared to drive far.....

Just have to watch out for the short or no dovetail trailers, these cars have an assload of front overhang. Plus if it doesnt have removable fenders make sure you can open the car doors with the tires low after the track and you in the car.

Loys of nice trailers around, I just like the open center for strapping the car down and being able to give the car a once over underneath.

Kp your old Brimar looks very similar to the one I have now, except mine is an 18 foot, which gives me some room to load the car in a way to keep the tounge weight down.

Nasty if you aren't afraid to drive a little bit, try getting in touch with Limberger trailers in Ellington CT. Ask for Josh, tell him Jason Lambert sent you. That's who I bought my Bri-mar from and the price was very reasonable. I luckily happened into 2006 model that was used probably twice that they took in trade, the trailer, registration, tax, a spare tire and the bracket to hold it, and a set of straps came to about 2600. A new one like what I bought was going for roughly 2600 alone for a referance.

I've been very happy with it so far, you definately could go with a 16 foot unit, the 18 is a little long, but I could fit a small ATV if I wanted to across the front or back, if I shifted the car foreward or back. Just have to build a set of ramps to get it up on from the side, and a crossramp for it to sit on for referance.

KP I do have a question for you, do you have a pic of the frotn of your old brimar? I want to see the toolbox you had on there, I want to do that and get a mount for a winch welded on the front of mine to get the car up on the trailer in the event the car is broken, and I'd like to see hwo you had it, and what size the box is. My thougth was to puta moroso box inside and hook the winch to that, and put a charger on that battery before going to the track, maybe hook it up in parallell with the battery that operates the emergency braking on the trailer so the truck will charge it when I'm towing as well. Only concern I have is I put a fold up leg on the front of mine with a wheel so I can move it by hand in my driveway, and so it will not bottom out when towing over a large bump/steep driveway entrance, the original leg did a couple times, and I didn't want to dig a trench in my driveway as I back the trailer up it (small hill at the bottom, leg would hit the gravel before it was paved)

I could move the car back quite a bit, I put it up that far so I could open the door without taking the fender off, tongue weight was still under 350lbs.

I got the box from summit, forget the brand. I was going to put a battery in there and a winch but I never did, plenty of room for that in that box. They sell two sizes, this was the larger box, wasnt that expensive either.

Only pic I have of the front, I just had it held on with some 'U' clamps so I could take it off easy to get to the breakaway battery if I had to.

Thanks, that is a help. I'll move the breakaway battery if need be for access, although I don't see needing access to it very often.

With the 18 foot model I have I could move the car up probably 4 feet if I wanted. I need to get a reciever that doesnt' have as much a drop to do it though, trailer sags a little as it is where I load the car. Fact that I'm towing with a 03 1500 dodge ram rcsb, with the original shocks on it doesn't help LOL. Gona put shocks on the truck probably next week and get a reciever with 2 inches less drop, should take care of that problem.

Its nice to know thats what your towing with..... eases my thoughts on my 4.7 doing the duty.....

I towed all over the country with an AWD '03 durango with a 4.7, those are some weak engines but it did it..

Found a better pic of the front and box, this is when the box was new and shiny.

i got the H&H tilt bed 18ft shoulda went 22 it just barely rubs the front but was the only one they had. i LOVE it its got dual brakes and tows awesome. but i also use a 02 2500HD so that helps too.

good luck oh yeah i paid 2400 for the trailer.
