Here are a couple pics of our new house. We've done 95% of the work ourselves over the last 5 months. Long process but we saved an a$$load of cash. House is a 2500sq/ft rambler on a full finished basement, 5 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. We have just alittle less than 200k in the project. House has a 3 car garage and I've got a 2000 sq/ft shop behind the house.

House is looking good...how much land? My shop I have is not on as much as I would like (3/4 of an acre) but it gets the job done. Wife and I are looking for some land (2-5 acres) to build our next home on, just not sure WHERE

That BBC will have to wait.....I know teh LS is gonna hold those dyno runs
That cage looks great. Looks like a solid design. Our new place is on 6 acres, hopefully we can get started on the 40x50 shop here shortly.

Thanks again for the heating system. We got there @ 7, temp was 70. It clicked on for 5 minutes. We left 10:30 and it never cycled back on.

House looks killer man. Maybe someday I can get out of the ghetto, love to build something like that, about 2200 sq feet with a finished basement, that would be perfect (finish the basement after the CO is done, so the tax assessor doesn't know )

Phil, you need some sod or something, doesn't look like the yard is quite ready!

Well we just got all the stuff for the garage 2 weeks ago because there was a 2 month waiting list. Car sounds stout, I'd try it on a set of drag radials, I am sure it would pickup MPH and 60' with the suspension setup correctly. When they do the tax records on a new construction home they do ask if the basement is finished and total number of bedrooms. Those two numbers work into your tax value.

As far as April, I hope so.

Thanks alot. So far, teh car has been 8.90's @ 152 on motor, cast intake and single carb (but Yates heads) but no clean passes on spray yet. Been in teh 8.20 range slip sliding on a true 28-10.5. Lifted a head gasket last time out, guy is thinking of going turbo now. Best of everything on that car....Windberg, GRP, J&E, Santhuff, Williams, Fab9, JW, etc....Got about 20 passes before teh gasket let go Here is a shot of just teh motor, before the 2 foggers and plate were installed:

Been meaning to ask you guys. Does teh basement count towards teh square feet? I mean, I would think it would, but just thougth I would ask. Those basementsare cool, you just don't see them down south (I'm in TX). Have some family up north, near South Bend, Indiana and they have those basements, cool for a "sports" room getaway

OK, back on topic.....you think you gonna make April Phil?

If the basement is finished they will tax you as added square footage, so the trick is to build the house, leave the basement totally unfinished, but put all the piping and whatnot up in the beams so it's a quick and easy job to finish it off.

Get your CO, then finish the basement off and when they re asess the house in 7 or 5 or 10 years whatever your state/town does, don't be home when they come around, and if you are don't let them in the house, let them tax you on what they see and that's it.

I'm finishing my garage off, putting power out there (120/230) and I will be insulating it, sheet rocking it, putting an a/c unit in the back wall and will put a hanging space heater, and they will never see the inside of the garage, and I'm not pulling any permits either, that is another way that they automaticially come out and inspect/reasses at the same time.

The worse they will be able to do is tax it for having the power (obvious by exterior lights) and the a/c unit, the heat exhaust will be in the center of the roof where they won't be able to see it from the ground LOL.

On another note, Phil when you filled the block how much of it did you fill, rough estimate?

Got ya. Did you use the regular bardblok stuff, or something else? The lsx being iron probably doesn't matter... alum block I wonder if the same stuff can be used.

Did you fill it before the machine work, or after? Wonder if that matters too....

I filled both Brian and Phil's block,it's actually a little more than half and it's not what you would think of for a typical fill.I added more is certain areas.
I do use the same filler for both alum and iron blocks.and you must fill before machining
