I agree 200% with the big block is more reliable than the small block. You can't compare what BG has done because, if there was a weight mininum it would be a different story. His 384" prostock is lighter than you'd think, there is a reason why no one knows the true weight.
I was also talking about his mustang. Regardless of weight they are sick motors that hold together.

There is nobody in racing that abides by the rules 100%, at the very least there are to many loop holes and areas to interptert thre rules yourself.

Even if everyone knew the weight it would still fly. He has been beat in that car a few times so it can't be that bad.

Only three people know the specs on his cars, him, his wife, and Bob G. Look what Bob did, most wins ever in NHRA pro stock and If I remember right un-defeated at the Nationals here..... those guys know what they are doing.... oh and guess who crewed Bobs car? Family only, IE Bill and his wife and Bob.

I can't think of many small block guys in the deep 7's or faster that do not fight engine problems.

Plenty of BBC guys runing the times that will make it a season and maybe just replace valve springs once or twice and a set of rods.

I have been really tight liped about the combo I am building but can say from all the reading I have done a lot of big power BBC guys make it a season with very little issues. The small block guys run into issues a lot but every engine is different. Some combos work well.

From what I have seen most turbo guys will not push an aluminum rod past 80 runs at these power levels and I have yet to find someone that said to go with a steel rod over aluminum with a big power car.

my smallblock went 7.18 @203,3300lbs on a 10.5w,that motor went 200 passes no problems with steel rods in it.I know of atleast 4 2000+hp smallblocks with steel rods.I can tell you there isnt much weight difference between the 2 on a smallblock,Phil's bobweight was 30 grams lighter than my steel rod motor, same length rods, but my piston was taller due to taller deck height.

I have not decided on what rod I will go with. Its kinda 50/50 from what I have seen and comes down to personal preference. My internals are the only things I have not decided on yet.

Im looking at a raised (and roller) cam half filled Brodix aluminum block with Head Hunter heads.

Pro Line quoted me around 32k. I know I could do it for a lot cheaper.

There is a blown alky guy that looked over my build sheet and told me I could probably get the same motor built for 20k. I am thinking 20-25. I am going 114 also.

Some stuff I know I could find used or on sale (non internals).

If Fiscus cam go 7.0's with a small block,we can go 7.0's with a small block,we may not have enough turbo, but thats an easy fix.

Oh yeah,i'm broke

No, I don't have any money nor have I ever had any money. The money for this motor came from some extra money left over from building my home. We ended up doing the framing, electric, and some other stuff saving us around 45k. My budget is miniscule compared to some of the other drag radial cars.

I've been thinking some Billet 91s.

Accomplishments are accomplishments regardless of a persons budget.

I disagree, Billy glidden is a good person to look at, many many people know he does it on a shoe string budget which makes his accomplishments even more incredible. I could care less about the guy who goes 6.50s with 400k budget. Lets face it Anyone can go fast with alot of money. Talented people will go fast on a shoe string budget.

Billy does do what he does on a Shoe String budget but come on, this is BILLY GLIDDEN!!!!!!!!!! Look at what he and his father have been doing since like the 70's or 80's!

Billy himself has even said he has a limited budget like you said, give him a big sponsor to throw money at them (they are looking for one) and see what happens.

I disagree with the 400k comment, I have seen a lot of people put TONS of money into their cars and get butt raped by people with a fraction of that money in their car. The difference is the guy with the big money had more cents then scence.

Your point is you only care about what someone does on a limited budget.

The days of being competitive in DR with a shoe sting budget are gone man. Like BD said, step up and keep up or step out.

Glidden himself has said that the limited finances are holding them back. So when he gets a big money sponsor will you then say he is not impressive because he has an unlimited budget?
No because you allready did.
