Dyer 300m billet rods
Used the same rods for 2 year without issue and regularly seeing over 8500rpm. Anybody that may say I have not shared all information about the motor as you have precluded to in the past is not speaking about facts.

Your car hauled *** last year. With all due respect, you did not share everything about the motor last year and I completely respect that. We don't need to debate what happened last year. You have spent your hard earned dollars on your engine program and you guys have great results to prove it.
Maybe YOU can spin a Steel rod 4" stroked LSx to 8800-9000 and have absolutely no issues with the mains moving or eating parts but I have heard of alot of others not making 3/4 of the horsepower you are, and having issues. My idea of "reliable" is being able to go a complete season without taking the engine or transmission out for service. Broken parts are a completely seperate deal. I am not going to take an engine or transmission out every 2-4 races to be serviced. Good luck with your new car.

Phil, without butting into your issue, and i am not questioning your opinion or combo - but - do you realisticaly feel that you or other people can reliability make 2K hp and run 200 mph in a 3400 lbs car an entire season ( i am thinking of an NMCA type season) without a rebuild or issue? I follow heads up outlaw drag racing and i dont know of many that can make this claim, esp with a small motor.
good luck and hope you have fun with it.

I can't think of many small block guys in the deep 7's or faster that do not fight engine problems.
Plenty of BBC guys runing the times that will make it a season and maybe just replace valve springs once or twice and a set of rods.
I have been really tight liped about the combo I am building but can say from all the reading I have done a lot of big power BBC guys make it a season with very little issues. The small block guys run into issues a lot but every engine is different. Some combos work well.
From what I have seen most turbo guys will not push an aluminum rod past 80 runs at these power levels and I have yet to find someone that said to go with a steel rod over aluminum with a big power car.

not to get off on a tangent - but there are a lot of big dogs with Big big blocks and turbos that are spittin rods out on the big end. i heard hance just chucked a few, again, after running that 6 second pass. i think a few others have spit rods out chasing 200+ mph as well.
good luck Phil. it must take some serious patience (and wallet) to do what you want to do! very nice parts as well!

Going to go see if there is more damage.
EDIT: Looks like just the valve.
Some BBC guys do have issues but far less then the small block guys... just my opinion from what I have seen.
Anything can be done.... look at what BG has done with a SBF and a bottle lol.

All those guys dropping valves and kicking rods have something in common....
I agree 200% with the big block is more reliable than the small block. You can't compare what BG has done because, if there was a weight mininum it would be a different story. His 384" prostock is lighter than you'd think, there is a reason why no one knows the true weight.
