Drag Racing Car Insurance ?
Does anyone know of a company that covers pro street/custom race cars/dragsters ?
I'm looking for a couple different policies for a few different cars.
1. I have a 2002 SS I paid $31k for it fully loaded. I've put about another $20k in it. I'm looking a rider policy to cover the other 20k and a policy that covers drag racing at the track.
2. My dad has a 74 Vega Pro Street, alot of custom work. Its tubbed has a 355 with a tunnel ram, dual holleys, alot of chrome in the engine. Its a beautiful car. He is looking for a policy to cover the full value of his car. He talked to some classic car insurance guys. They can cover him but they have rules, like it has to be garage kept, which it is. It can only be driven so many miles a year, no problem. But they will not let him make any passes at the local strip. If he does and has a mishap no coverage etc.
I am also looking at getting into a custom build Super Gas Dragster with my dad. What do all you guys do with these $20-$100k cars at the track if you wreck?
Anyone have any experience or luck with drag racing car insurance?
Thanks,
Lee

I dont think there is any drag racing insurance available, from anyone.I have a stated value policy on my car for $60,000.My agent had to come out and take pictures of car as well as copy receipts for mods.As far as wrecking at the track your SOL,life insurance is void also. This is straight from my agents mouth,he is a friend and fellow gearhead.

Google Bill Lutz insurance. He runs a pro mod car and does on track ins. it is pricy but he is the only one that does pro street. for your none street cars gulfway insurance covers that. as far value of car get a appraisal done for about $350 bucks. this gives you proof for ins. my car is appraised at $150k and they match my coverage before would only give me $80k. that is because of current sale listings. we all know every custom car holds it on value according to receipts. try that good luck.

my wife crashed our new caddy at the 1/4 mile track. she went thru the nets. it caused over $10,000.00 in damage.
I called my insurance agent and told him what happened and I said I know I'm not covered.
my agent informed me that I was wrong and the car was covered under the comprehensive portion of the policy. I got paid in full!
my agent said if my wife was injured, they would be no coverage for the injuries.

My insurance covers the car to and from the track, and driving around. But does not cover you running down the the track.

You guys with "Stated Value" better get your head out of the sand and get "Agreed Value".
I have "Agreed Value" and had to use once. Man what a life saver, no real issues getting $$,$$$ to fix my Car.
And this from Hagerty's site....
What is the difference between Agreed Value and Stated Value Insurance coverage?
An Agreed Value policy (which is the same as Hagerty’s Guaranteed Value policy) guarantees the policy will pay the full insured amount of the vehicle – with no depreciation – in case of a covered total loss. A stated value policy (sometimes called stated amount or maximum limit of liability) does not promise upfront to pay this stated amount. In the event of a covered total loss, it may pay less than the stated amount, as the insurer has the right to pay the lesser of your collector car’s depreciated actual cash value (ACV) or its replacement cost. Also, many insurers that offer stated value policies require periodic appraisals to substantiate the insured amount, adding cost and inconvenience to the client.

Don't believe me ???
Ask your Ins. Agent
Now there is Insurance for the track....but I'm not up on that.
Also, IF your car is on/in a trailer connected to your truck....it's insured under your trucks insurance (MOST states)
