Default Battery Kill Switch

Hey guys I am relocating my battery to the trunk so I have room for my standalone fuel system. I know that you have to have a kill switch if your battery is in the trunk and I was wondering if it mattered where it was, I kinda want mine hidden, don't want everyone messing with it, my buddy has his in his inner fender well didn't know if that met NHRA requirements? also I am using an Optima red top I know you have to have a dry cell battery

Thanks,

Mike

It has to be visable and clearly marked to be legal. You can use one of the rod type ones through the corner of the tail light and just take the rod out when you are street driving so no one can mess with it.

I have a Summit one welded to the roll cage and out through the filler panel. It works great but if I had to do it again I would get the Flaming River switch. It has a much shorter throw,

so you only have to have a battery kill switch if you move the battery to the trunk?

Correct. In addtion if driver's compartment is one hole section (like a hatch type vehicle) then the box has to be in a metal enclosure unlike a coupe (trunk separate from the cabin) where a plastic box is deemed legal. -Mark

I think its supposed to be vented to the outside of the car as well.

Also it does not have to be a dry cell.
Also the rules are the same for dry and wet cell.
