Enclosed Trailer Guys....Vintage Outlaw quality?
Found a lead on a new vintage outlaw 48' gooseneck trailer with living quarters...and before making the plunge...wanted feedback as to trailer quality from anyone that owns/owned one.
Thanks

I've been very happy with my '07 Haulmark Edge gooseneck. The fit and finish of the "Edges" seemed to be of better quality when I compared the 2. I looked at the Vintage trailers, CargoMate, and United. I couldn't be happier with my Edge Gooseneck.

all the vintage's i"ve ever seen have been nice, and seemed to hold up well.

semi's are 53'

im glad to hear you understand how big it really is. If thats what your looking for, like i said all the vintage's ive seen have been nice. We pulled a 48' pace with 2 supras in it to texas last year. The owner promptly traded it for a 28' when we got back.

Like MadMan said, we got a 50' Vintage last year and it's a great trailer for the money. We welded rollers on the back of it so it wouldn't drag.. We pull it with either a 6 liter F350 or my '07 Cummins dually...

I'm still debating though....36' non LQ vs 48' LQ.
I just want 28' of garage
Definatly going gooseneck...
weight is also a consideration. Don't really want to mess with CDLs which are required for 26K and up GCVWR. and DOT cops are getting tough....if you race for a purse/trophy/etc, they consider it commercial anymore

Ive got a 40' Edge gooseneck with 32' of floor space. IMO, if your going NON LQ, the 40' is an optimal length.
A friend of mine that has a 2006 50' Cargo Mate with LQ, slide out, and 28' of rear garage space, is trying to get me to trade him trailers and then he will buy a toter home to pull mine. But the problem is 28' of space, minus 2 feet for the cabinets in front and now your at 26. Kinda hard to fit a car and golf cart in there comfortably IMO. Which is why I want to stick with my 40' Edge.

The empty weight is right around 9500-10,000 lbs. I have 12" of extra height too, so that will add to the total weight. On any trailer thats not a LQ, make sure you get the triple 6K lb axles or higher.
With my car (3350), golf cart, tools, generator, coolers, tool boxes, 15 gallons of fuel, 4 nitrous bottles, and numerous other things, the trailer came in at about 15,600 -16,000 lbs.
Ive had numerous guys ride with me to the track that have 1 ton trucks and they cant believe how well my 3/4 ton truck pulls the trailer. All of them said it pulls better than their 1 ton duallys. Going down the highway you seriously dont know its back there as it pulls so good. Much better than my past experiences with a 32' tag trailer
I'll be pulling that 50' Cargo Mate LQ trailer this year to Memphis with my truck so we can stay at the track

I'm really really trying to avoid having to deal with class A driver license stuff. My truck (3500) is 12000 GVW so I can not have anything thats manufacturer tagged greater than 14000 to keep me in class C territory which is only good to 26000 GCVW...

I think you're nuts pulling that much pin weight on a 2500

According to my GVWR of 9200 lbs, and my total weight my truck is able to pull is 14,600 lbs. That gives me a GCVW of 23,800. When I weighed the truck and trailer loaded, my total weight GCVW was 22,300 lbs. So in technical terms I am under the legal limit for a Class C license.
BUT if you go on the GVWR stickers of the truck (9200, and trailer 18,000) I am technically over weight.
Its all in how you work the numbers.
Only thing I know is that it tows great, doesnt sway or throw you around, stops good, handles great, and doesnt try and "drive" you. Ive been there before with a 32' tag and it was a nightmare.

I've spent the last day or so researching DOT rules on this
Most trucks only list the GVWR on the door tag...9200 in your case. In the absense of an offical GCVWR on the door tag...you add the GVWR of the truck and trailer for your official GCVWR...once you go over 26K you need a class A license...
Be careful....if caught they can and most times will park your truck and you won't be able to move it until a certified Class A driver comes to drive it...nevermind the hefty fines they impose

The actual pin weight on that trailer is 1700-1800. We have to 2500HD trucks and with the other truck we pull a RV 5th wheel with a pin weight of 2250 lbs.

Lime Smkn Ta 95 said a 40 is a good length. I have a 28ft now and need bigger. It doesnt take long with all the other crap you take to max a 28 out. With the 28 maxed out it pulls ok with my dually. Now I have a dragster and camaro, so I have to get rid of the cart and build a hoist to have the front of the dragster above the camaro. I really want LQ's but none have enough garage for me.

From racers I have talked to around here If you have any type of name combined with or "racing" on your trailer, you will have a much higher chance of getting checked for weight from the DOT. Since your advertising your race team on your trailer, they think you are racing for money..... ie. Business. Thats why my "Black Racing" decal is on the back window of my truck Just an FYI
