Default what tires for my set-up?

I need to get some tires on my new rims and i can get eaither...

--26 x 10.0 ET drags.
--26 x 8.5 ET drags.

They only have a few pass's on them and can get um pretty cheap. Im on a budget now so im gonna get these cause there better then no tire, and im sure there close enough to what i need anyways.

How do the et drags compare to et streets? Just one has lines in them to be DOT legal or different tire all toghter? Iv heard both. There going to be going on a 15x8.5 rim. The 8.5's just sound small but Matt D. is running good on them so i dunno. Whats your guys thoughts on it???

As for fronts, how tall is everyone running on them? I had 26's and seemed short.

I'm going to be running 26 X 9 hoosier slicks this season, and they have held up to a lot of the guys running in the 10.0 index races around here...

There are guys in the high 5s in the 1/8th (low 9s in the 1/4) with the 26x8.5x15 tires like I have. Like you said, they work great on my car. I have never had a problem not hooking up. Very consistent. I had ET Streets on my '00 camaro and I went faster after switching to the ET Street Radials. If you're gonna put a tire on it, either go with a full slick or a MT or Hoosier Drag Radial. Ultimately you want the smallest tire on the car and still hookup. Your weight is close to mine, so if you are staying on motor, I would go with the 26x8.5. If you'd like, you can try mine out any day I am at a test & tune. I don't mind.

Well Matt, SLOW5.0 on chitown has the tires for sale for $100 a pair and there still pretty mint. I plan on spraying the car outta the hole pretty hard so im gonna swing the 10's and see what it does. At least there pretty cheap! Now all i need to do is find some front runners.

Assuming you can tune the chassis and get it to work right run the smallest tire you can hook on.

The difference from running a 26x8.5 or 26x10 isn't going to be much even if you could get it to hook on the 26x8.5

Personally I would run the 26x10 more than likely it'll help the car be more consistent with a little more tire.

If you spray the car I would run the 26x10 vs the 26x8.5 no doubt.

I'd do the 8.5's on that rim. Min rim width on some 10" ET Drags is 9". Like Matt said - Start small...

Well i picked up the 10's tonight, these things look big! Are the et drags bigger or more true to size vs et streets?

And i plan on hitting it with at least 150 outta the hole so i figure the 10 would be better.

Damn these are a lot heiver then i would have thought. Are ET drag heavier then et streets?

The Drags I believe are measured as tread width and the Streets are section width. I had 11.5 streets on my 8 inch rims. they had 9+ inches of tread. The 11.5 Drags that I have on my 10 inch rims have 11"s of tread.

I would have suggested a 28" if you plan to spray the car. I think you may find yourself with too much gear on the 26".

I am running a 28" x 10.5 Drag w/ 3.91 gear.

I thought you still had the stock gears for some reason. If you are spraying more than 100, you will run out of gear. With my Yank PT4400, 3.73 gear, and 26x8.5, I cross the traps at 6100. I shift at 6450. I would try them out and if you are going into 4th, you could always sell the tires and get a set of 28x10.5.

That sound so funny once you've driven a big tired car, my old pile had 33x16.5's

Looking at 26"x10"s seem tiny to me now.

Also like Matt said you could always go with a 28" tire, but you didn't list those in the options to choose between or I would have picked 28x10.0
