Definitely a good looking car you have there. I like how everything has been done right. Interested to see more pics of the rear wheels and tires and how they tuck up.

the cowl, can you cut along the firewall so that when it gets boxed back in it's a square, the metal that the windshield sits on goes strait back to the firewall then down?

I want to do this next year to make room for the next setup I want to try.... but am unsure of exactly how it's done. I'm unfortunately gonna have to shell the $ to do it, I'm not a body guy by any means and I fear what it would look like if I do it myself. I'm not afraid to learn, but that seems like alot bigger task to start off learning with then I want to use for my first attempt.

for the weight and the room you get, you do not want to pay someone to do work like that. you will have some cash in that, IMO.
if you are just trying to make room for a carb, you can notch it in the middle yourself with a grinder or body saw.

Now cut back the cowl to the windshield. You can go in as far as you want. I should have gone further. By farther I mean further on the bottom (more angle cut)
I'm not doing mine like that, I am cutting my cowl at the bottom back to the fire wall, then going straight up and welding it to the bottom of the dash metal. So it'll go back under the window and also be as high as the bottom of the dash and I am going to cut into the lexan and remove the section where the hood cowl is so I have some extra room for the distributor and carb.

I'd like to do it that way, but I don't want to run a lexan window, only because soem classes don't allow it.

I don't see why you couldn't cut it back with a stock window like that. I don't care about class racing, I'll take mine out to the back road and get with the program

Not my thing, the street racing around here is really not all that great, alot of slower car, and the guys that are fast, aren't coming out for anything less then 4 figures for the most part.

Not worth the risk to me at this point, I like my car, my house, my job, wife, etc.etc.

My main reason for going lexan front window is to be able to cut it in the middle so I can have carb and distributor clearance. I have to look around more not exactly a tun of BBC in f-body pics all over than I have seen with stock strut towers. I might not even need it all though I am going at least tall deck BBC with a single plane.

You can fit a 632 in ther with stock strut towwes, a vfn sunoco hood and just the cowl cut off. Eastside put one in the orange car.

I plan on having the engine bay repainted after the cowl's cut off and reboxed in, and the hood painted at the same time.

Car's gonna look better then the mid 9's it runs.

I wonder how the weight distribution is with something like a 632 in the stock location.

An all aluminum 632 is only about 50 lbs heavier then an iron block lsx motor for a referance... that lsx block is a heavy bitch.

But, the motor being a little longer does shove it foreward more.

You will need scales and will need to play with the 4 coilovers to get the weights where you want them.

I'll be cutting the fire wall anyways, so I'll set the motor and trans in the car, then see how it scales, and if need be I will just set the engine back a few inches.

SBC vs BBC is 1" longer if I remember, that's assuming you mount it in the stock location, I plan to set my engine back some anyways, if I can't afford to run with the big boys I can at least look fast lol.

Here are my updates, who else has done some serious cutting? I am going to cut more off in front of the front doors and also cut some of the inner panel under the top of the roof to tuck the bars up as high as possible.

You are Nuckin Futz!

Can't wait to see it progress.

I have been working on my car just a few hours on the weekends at the paint shop. The rear quarters and doors and painted and hopefully get the front fenders and front bumper cover done this weekend. I will take some pics then. Just a couple more weeks and I will finish the wiring and put the rest back together.

The color is Torch Red.
