How much weight does the aerospace rear drag brake kit save on the rear? Is there much modification to fit on the rear? All comments/info will be appreciated.

Just new backing plates, which makes it so that there is no e-brake and the stock calipers will no longer bolt up. You also have to insert a bearing spacer ring in the axle tube to make it all fit up (for Moser 12 bolts not sure on the others). They are several pounds lighter, maybe more.

If you need a parking brake Drive Train Specialists sells a version that uses a Wilwood backing plate with parking brake setup and a different style rotor hat from what I could tell.

I'd suggest a quick call to Jay Billingsley and he'll let you know all the specifics.

Looks sweet Derty - If you don't mind my asking, how much did that set you back?

I probably have about 900 to 1000 in all the brakes, the manual cylinder, some new lines, etc. You could also do what Taner did, just run LS1 rears and Aerospace fronts. I went with this setup because it saved a ton of weight and also lets me fit the new Aluma Stars in there. Sooooo much nicer looking!

Nice pictures Derty/Brandy.I guess if you did the front only you could retain your ABS braking.I understand that with the Strange set up you lose your ABS.

Brandy, bwhahaha, I just fell out of my chair.

If you had just the fronts I don't see why you couldn't retain the ABS. However with manual brakes the car feels just as good as it did with the vacuum assisted brakes. Just depends on how you want to save money because it can get pricey.

Hmmm, so you the full - full setup with manual brakes. You mean the pedal and stopping pressure is just as good as the stock brakes!!!

I use my ABS with the fronts. I'm thinking of demodding my car and might have them for sale soon. I'd prefer to sell my entire kmemeber setup to someone on exchange (pa kmember, aarms, hals, aerospace brakes, braded lines). You'll save like 80# over your stock stuff.

Yup, maybe even more stopping force because the piston is bigger and the stroke is changed with the manual setup. I would highly recommend the use of the STREET version if you plan on a lot of street driving. The race brakes heat up pretty quick because it's a solid thick crossdrilled non-vented rotor. Whereas the street setup has a vented rotor. Now, for those that heel/toe downshift the vacuum assisted brakes are going to be able to clamp down really hard in comparison. For those that just do normal braking, I'd say it's pretty equal. I don't drive in the rain anymore so I can't tell you what that's like.

i am quite happy with the brakes also! i drive them on the street a fair bit! so far so good.....
i saved almost 50 pounds when i weighed my front brakes, keep in mind the front calipers on an lt1 are not aluminum. don't know why i put the heavier ls1 brakes on the rear though...doh! my car is still a pig though! 3499 race weight

Yes they should fit 16" and 17" wheels fine. I have the race brake setup and the only difference would be a thicker rotor and caliper. Which still wouldn't come close to an issue. Talk to Jay or Amber Billingsley about it. The comment they made about aftermarket wheels had to deal with wheels like the Aluma Star 2.0 and Magnum Drag wheels. Those have very tight rim shells and they might not fit those.

Cool, so regular welds (draglites) or maybe Bogarts shouldn't be an issue?

I wouldn't think so. With Aluma Stars and magnum drags the rims have a nasty interior lip on them that brings them down to something like a 14" interior diameter about 1-1/2" wide. Makes it tough for the calipers to clear. If you don't have a lip on the inside like that it should fit up just fine. I'm sure that the Billingsley's could tell you for sure, they deal in Weld wheels.
