The claim is certainly not true for your car. You will minimize your ET by shifting several hundred rpm beyond your power peak. In your case this is probably above your rev limit. If you don't want to raise the limit, try shifting at 6300.

raise the limiter to 7 or 7200 and shift at 6800, thats were im shifting at. and you need to do the same cause your leaving alot on the table if you shift lower then 6k

I'd like to see how the power carries to 7k on your combo but from what I can see you should be shifting at 6600 at least. Raise the limiter and wind it out.

I just dont want to blow the motor the bottom end is all stock. I'm wanting arp rod bolts just havent got any yet. I've got a fast 90 that I just bought and I'm getting new injectors, fuel rails and NW 90mm. so maybe then I can put some in and get a nother tune and bump it up or something. I'll get a 150 shot also.

Put the limiter at 7k and try shifting at 6700rpm. No guts=no glory.

I would think you can safely take it up to 6800 judging by your parts list but I wouldnt take it past that, the answere is how far down does your revs go when you shift? It looks like peak torque is at about 4800rpms, so I would aim for as close or slightly lower as you can to that, without going past 6800 to get to it. You just have to experiment and see where ur revs go after you shift. but your strongest powerband looks to be from about 4600 - 6400 but hp doesnt drop after 6400 and appears to seem like it should be a flat curve to 6800+.

I'm with Demonicbird00 and ZV8. Shifting at 6800 rpm's will keep your rpm's from dropping and having the car regain momentum. I'd set the shifts at 6800 and the rev limiter to 7000. When mine was stock bottom, I hit 7000 rpm's quite a few times and it didn't hurt anything ... not saying it couldn't have, though ... def wasn't good for it. Instead of throwing more power to it, if I were you, I'd look at getting your motor forged. , but, that's just me.

Good luck.

I agree, with that curve your optimal shift point is going to be beyond the stock bottom end's capacity to handle it.
Go as high as you feel comfortable and remember that a spun bearing is
a good excuse to build a forged 355 or 383

FWIW; I set my shift point to 6375 on a stock bottom end without issues.
I was going to go to 6500, but never got around to pulling the governor out to make the switch.

Nice numbers btw, what do you have it in? (if you don't mind me asking )

OK I'm shifting at 6,300 off my shift light so I'm sure it's closer to 6500. My RPMs drop to 5200 when I shift. I filmed me making a few passes on a country road. So I might put a clip on here..
