Bigger motors make the cam seem way smaller you put that cam in a 427 it'll buzz. I saw a 705" with a 278/282 duration at .050, it made peak torque at 4,700. Take some photos I am looking for numbers on carb to windshield clearance and possibly any other place these motor get close.

I was going to ask why only drive it occasionally on the street? The motor doesn't seem that wild. Is it going to run on race gas?

Someone was asking about carb pad to cowl clearance so here ya go. This is without an intake gasket, I had it all together to mark the intake ports and took this picture after I took it apart to ship off. Took some other random pictures.

I found out with the Griffin radiator I'm running I can't use the stock plastic support so I need some universal radiator mounts. Anyone sell some or do people just fabricate their own?

Cool, how much higher is the actual bottom of the window pan? I cut off all of my cowl to the windshield, but I'll be running a carb hat on top of my carb, going turbo/blow through

I was planning on going bbc nitrous, I am going bbc turbo, that's once time, besides I'll make a lot more power with the turbo setup and can run way less cam. After seeing someone make 1500 hp on pump gas that's good for me.

Nothing on the body has been touched except the hood support for elbow clearance and I'm cleaning up the cowl area just to make it nicer, the window motor and everything is still there, just taking off that "lip" portion.

Turbo BBC is really nice, but it will take some fab work to run a nice single. Twins would almost be easier. I looked into a big single for my 555 and it would have to be larger than 91mm to feed that thing. If you are still talking 6xx+ CID then have fun fitting that beast. You will have to take out all the supports and mount it up front right behind the bumper like the Barney T/A.

I did have a little problem today. Found out the driveshaft wouldn't fit, not sure why as I only spent about 15 minutes screwing with it, but when I mocked everything up it fit perfect. The trans crossmember and torque arm fit fine just like stock so I'm not sure what's up.

I would say in total it's about 4 inches to the bottom of the windshield, probably a little less.

if hes serious about doing it and not just blowing smoke then ragen should go rear mount.

I look at the motor in the car and to be honest that doesn't even look that big in there. The shop's car with the 632 alum bbc seems alot tighter then that, you must be running a shorter deck height then they are, because when I see that in there it doesn't seem that bad at all to be honest.

When the headers are in the car and the steering shaft is hooked up I will pass final judgment on that though

No, but I can take some. The piece is a direct bolt in from BMR. What kind of pics are you looking for?

It's a standard deck BBC (9.8), not a tall deck (10.2). That's actually why I didn't put a Pontiac (10.25 IIRC) motor in there. You're right, the motor doesn't even look to be shoehorned in there, but there still isn't much room. The whole plan was to take a LT1 car and swap a BBC in there. Mechanically without the A/C everything has been a direct bolt in with no issues other than the driveshaft. The big expense comes from the motor itself and then upgrading the other components to match. Anyway here are a couple of the mock up pictures showing the headers and shaft.

I am actually leaning towards a 509-540, but more than likely 509. Setup is planned to be twin 80's on pump gas with a blow through. It should make more than enough power to on pump gas to give me plenty to tune on.

Good deal those pics were exactly what I was looking for.

I am just try'in to decide weather or not there is enough room for a set of foward facing turbo headers and DP. I change my mind every other day about the power plant for my car.

68maro: Why would you go rear mount vs. front mount? Yes I am serious have you seen my car? This is obviously going to take a while to build since I am doing the work myself and don't have bags full of money laying around

Josh: As far as changing your setup around, hey if you find a better idea why not run with it, that's how I look at it.
