I DEFINATELY consider my white car a REAL street car. It gets driven daily to drop the kids off/pick up at/from school, REALLY does do grocery duty. It also gets 18mpg hwy with the AC on, runs on pump gas ONLY. Full interior with baby seat,3820lb's and can drive ANYHWERE(has seen 500+ mile road trips comfortably). I can drive to the track, run high 9's and drive home with the AC blowing cold!. I could shed some weight, add more nitrous and go alot faster but thats not why I built it. Wife had a '89 Mustang coupe(2650lb.s,414 w/nitrous/Powerglide) that I called a street car( We did drive a little) it ran 8.70's@156mph but lacked most everything mentioned here!LOL! One things for sure everyone will always have different opinions on "street cars"!

Ok maybe I cheated some and don't practice what I preach, here is my last "street car" tube frame back half, 33x16.5s, lexan windows, 4 link, solid roller sbc, th400 t/b with 4,500 stall, pin on hood and deck lid, running on c-12 gas. But I did put a few thousand miles a year on it, so it was a street car

My next car will run on true pump gas or E85, but it's going to be on close to the same size tire and have a full 25.2 tube frame and TT BBC, all lexan but it's going to get driven on the street, smog legal or not.

It seems everyone is always arguing over whether or not their car is a street car or a race car. It seems no one has ever come up with a system to determine this. We got together today and came up with a little test to see if your car is a race car or street car. So here it is... the arguing is OVER!! Go down the list and add up your mods. Holy Gayest list ive ever seen Batman...

This thread had been dead for allmost two months..... oh well ill reply.

By Your point system i have almost 300 points in my ""RACE CAR"" that i Drive on the street.
It can be done..... D/D a Car with a Cage, Aftermarket rearend(S60), full spool, drag radials(325's), Powerglide, Bigger motor(370ci), Big Turbo(S88) in 100+ degree's days of summer and 15 degree days in winter....... 35 miles to work everyday because its your only way to work because the wife works 17 miles the other way. 75 miles every Sat to hang out with friends to just BS about cars.... take a 50 mile detour that one night because of traffic in 95 degree stop and go traffic.... Oh and getting 11mpg.....

It can be done.... just use good parts... I drove the car in my sig thru the hottest months of summer and into the freezing winter because it was the only thing i had..... Reg and Insuranced.

Everyone has there own .02 when it comes to this......

The BEST STREET CAR ive ever seen in David Childress's car.
A 3800+LB car with a 364ci motor and a T88 turbo. 4L80E.
Car Runs 9.0x's at 150+MPH...
The car drove 900.... thats right..... 900 miles EACH WAY to Memphis at Last YR's LSX shootout and ran 9"s on the 17" radials its driven on everyday and then drove the 900 miles home......

Should be in the 8's this YR.

Plates, Registration, and Insurance = Street Car. Nothing else makes it not a street car. I dont care what fuel is ran on, what tires are on it, or what mufflers.

If you are limited because you'll run out of gas and have no way to refill it you are kinda in a racecar. If you can baby it on the street on 93 and octane boost but need race gas to go wot at the track then you squeaked by as a streetcar.

And obviously you need tags and insurance. Other than that, anything goes.

You guys who say it needs A/c, power everything, and overdrive are little bitches. Buy a ******* Honda and quit pretending you are one of us. If you have the cash to have a full optioned, leather, plush, 9 second car good for you that's kick ***. Just don't assume that's all there is.
