Did they have a prepped launch pad? I was thinking of going today but the rain scared me away. Can you run open headers? Fill us in. I may go tomorrow. What is the entrance fee? Can you win anything? Give us the whole low down.
Thanks man

Thanks for the info BLULS1. For the first time out you did great BLULS1. You went out and had some fun and that is what it is all about . It is a charity event for children and you did your part. More than I did

Anyway, there is TV coverage on this event on Channel 4 Action News this morning. I watched it and the car needs to be street legal. That leaves me out for today because I don't have my street exhaust completed yet . They said the drag race was 300 feet or so. 300 feet or so was the reporters exact words. I am assuming it is 330 feet but I don't know that for sure. I'll keep watching the TV coverage and try and find out more.

Sounds like a fun event and I will try and participate next year. I hope this is an annual event.

BTW, concrete hooks better than asphalt

Later

I have been watching the coverage on Action 4 news and they just said a temporary 330' sanctioned IHRA track was set up on the city streets. Christmas tree and all. This is the FIRST TIME this has ever been done on a down town city street in the whole country. Cool huh?

There is over 3,000 1975 and older hot rods down there for the car show and cruise.

Anyone or any car can enter the drag race portion of the event. No prizes or trophys, just for fun.

This event is for several childrens charities. Drag races start at 10am and run till 5pm.

They just showed some of the drag racing and the cars do not look like they are hooking very well at all.

I talked to Frank Tedesco earlier in the week and he told me that it will only be a 330' track so BLULS1Z28 your times are for the 1/16 mile instead or the 1/8 mile. Sorry to disappoint you.

5.992 is a lot faster then a 10.00. It's a low 9 (~ 9.20)car in the 1/4. That's what I am running in the 1/8th right now.

Congrats on having fun your first time out. Just get the facts straight before you post up such a great ET. That would have been high 9's or low 10's in the 1/4. Turns out you were only going half as far as you thought.
