I seen the slick comment after I posted.. LOL

Sucks you don't have good track conditions to get a base number... You should be in the 1.20-30 60' range.

I don't like adding weight to do what you're trying to do, but it is an effective tool alot of people use and if it works I'd be the first to condone it.

I just look at adding weight as self defeating, we put so much time and effort into making the car as light as possible to turn around and add weight for anything other then to get to the minimum required by the rules seems silly to me.

I'd move stuff in the car, move the bottle to the trunk, that type of stuff if you can.

Either way... it's getting there. Ya have to start somewhere, and it's not very often your first pass with a brand new car is a picture perfect moment.

Maybe move the IC and get it to hit the tire harder off the line too?

with my BBC up front and fuel cell and all my plumbing its just nose heavy... we need to be able to get it to hook some what so we can see how the chassis reacts.... once it starts going to the moon we start taking weight out... usually after we have one setup after the weights gone we still have a hard time keeping it on the ground....

Got ya.

Yeah that motor is probably a good bit heavier I"m sure, that's probably messing with it some.

I'm in the process of collecting parts with a 3000 raceweight goal... once it's there I'll have to rescale the car out to get it set right I'm sure. k member a arms hood cowl trim as well as all the underhood wiring still have to go, but I'm ditching the stock fuel tank and putting a 1/5 or 2 gallon under the hood to run the whole car off of (should be enough for a pass, maybe 2, but with the nitrous plug routine the hood's off every run anyway so it's not a huge deal to splash some fuel in it)

Speedglass front and rear, transam to formula hatch, and a bunch of little **** to do too..

Hopefully it doesn't do what happened last time I pulled 200 lbs out (see sig pic, had I not lifted when I did that would have been a 4 off the ground deal Got back in it and rode it out about 600 feet... not on the list of stuff to try again that's fo sho)

I'm gonna try..my plan is to put the factory rubber gasket on the speedglass when it gets installed in an attempt to make it look more factory. That, and black screws in the blackout around the edge so they will be less noticable.

I'm sure it won't be perfect but it can't hurt.

The new speedglass drop in fronts look relatively stock. You can use adhesive to hold them in instead of having to use screws. I think the front is good for 27 lbs or so.

took the car out this weekend....

had a couple small problems before we got the car hooking hard...

one run the nitrous didnt come on till about 400ft out:

60' 1.60
660' 6.45
mph 122

i had the floor mat under the pedal and didnt have the WOT switch on till about 3.55 seconds in on the run...

so off the Tbrake it pulled about down to about 15* timing and almost died then ramped 11 back in in 1.8 seconds then the nitrous came on 3.55 seconds in....

the next run we through the floor mat in the trash and launched the bitch the same and it packed front wheels about 1' high and then broke the tranny and slammed back down...

this was on a 36/36 light tune up on a fogger... we will eventually have a 40/40 in it and the plate turning on after its lined out....

this car charges hard on the back half of the track.... doesnt even feel like a nitrous motor...

i'd venture to guess this little 481 should produce sub 5.70 numbers next time out with new tranny.... as long as ring and pinion holds up...

just a 12 bolt for now... no pic... its jus a ARB that we made from scratch with some chassis engineering billet arms.

got the car out this weekend...

got a 1.44 60' out on a shitty track... the bracket cars were slipping and sliding last night...

going to a $1k dollar race next friday hopefully the track prep will be decent... looking for some 1.30 60's

i'm running some pretty large systems and cant knock the power down low enough without leaving the starting line on 0* timing.... so im going to progress both systems with a smooth curve and then use the digital box for some fine tunning...

i had the car mph 125 with a 1.46 60' skating all around at the 330 on...

this was leaving on 3 degrees timing on 1 system...

in elimations it left extremely hard then about 1.05-1.09 seconds in to the run it set the front end down and spun leaving a 1.499 60' to complain about..

needless to say went out first round.

next on agenda is to plot out the chassis again on the car make sure we didnt mess up our drawing...lol ... go through the carb (something is wrong with it... maybe trash in it or something) then put the progressor on it and make it back to the track on the 5th and use both kits...

made it to a small race last night with the new progressor.... finally the car is coming around and making some decent progress after so many weeks of problems and heart ache...

ended up making a 5.82 pass deep staging (turning top bulb off) with a 1.41 60' @ 127mph on one system leaving line at 20% ramping in over 2.8 seconds and ramping 8* launch retard in over 1.8 seconds...

it left with all 4 wheels on the ground left front barely touching every now and then...

looks like this 4.10 gear is gonna have to go.... hopefully in near very soon future we'll have a 9" under this thing with a 3.42 gear.... this thing was tacking about 7800 through the traps...

track was still shitty and had bald spots every where... to be consistant last night on 275's you really had to tip toe out of the gate...

i expect 5.6x on 1 system and decent track....

last trip out to sikeston we finally figured out why the car was acting up after the first pass...

it went a 1.37 60' (getting out of it about .9 seconds in) and wondered over to wall...

broke the converter car left the hardest it had... was probably in the range of a 1.30x 60' and 5.6x 1/8th if we coulda held it together.

getting a new converter moving some weight around in the car, and taking some weight out, putting an extra battery in and a few other things before we make another trip to the track...

trying to get back out tuesday night at music city raceway if we can...

should be able to throw down a 5.5x now even on a shitty track.

this poor little junk yard motor is sure putting out some ponies

figured out a few weeks back why the car would die on the brake....

after going back over the wiring schematics of the 7531 box....
when on the T-brake it pulls the timing when the 12v is active and ramps it back in when its inactive....

so it was pulling all 18* while on the T-brake cause the car to snuff itself out... thats now been fixed with a progressor so we dont have to pull as much timing on the hit.
