I had the same thing happen to me at the LSX shootout with a pair of Hoosier drag radials i bought for the event. made 6 passes before the event and 100 street miles tops. by pass number 3 at the shootout they were showing the ******* cords. so that's 9 passes and 100 miles. no feathering, just went right down to the cords.
Hooser refused to do anything for me and said it looked like "a wear issue". That was the first and LAST set of Hoosier tires that will EVER be on my car needless to say. ********. $400 tires.

My Hoosiers look exactly like that. As soon as they started feathering up really bad, they started wearing really fast and didn't hook up for ****.
I went from being able to run to the top of the powerband in 1st then standing on the throttle with no spin, to be able to spin them in 2nd. I took the tires off, swapped sides, and the feathers went away and they hooked, but they soon returned.

I was told that M/T had a bad batch of tires hit the market a few months back and thats why it was so hard to find a new set earlier this year. M/T stopped the press until they figured out what was wrong with the compound. I was told that the tires were seperating and coming apart due to a compound issue. All of this info was given to me by a VERY reputable source. Not saying its true or false just stating what I have "heard".. I have a brand new set on my car and we just purchased a set from Madman for a good friends car about 2 months ago with no issues so far..
When did you buy this set of street radials??

yes I have and he still has about an inch of tread near the side that looks like it was barely touched. Oh and he should be pulling much better than only 1.8 60's...what was your best 60' with these vs the Mickeys that lasted 8k miles?

Maybe, check the durometer across the tread, on a new set, and yours, and others that don't show this problem.
Excessively hard burnouts are just what the mfgrs like to see.
We did a mag article w/ M/T engineers, some yrs ago.
Tires should be heated to track temp + 10-15*.
Hard/excessively long b/o's cause excessive amts of oil to be pulled to the surface. Once the oils are out, the tire goes away faster, w/ less bite.
They specifically stated "no dry hops". That only removes patches of "oil impregnated" contact surface.. Resulting in inconsistent launches.

If you bought a set back in March they "SHOULD" be a new set and not a set from an older batch. Unless the vendor had a ton of them in stock and never ran out like everyone else did earlier this year and I highly doubt that..

I agree, thats exactly what it looks like, i had a good 600+ street miles on mine & 3 nights of track racing & they still looked new, they will hold up very well IF you don't do John Force burnouts on them, those "waves" in the tread are the typical signs of over burning them, then there just toast. You don't need to them that hot to make them stick like you do on a Bias slick.
