if your going to install strange front brakes you might as well get the spindle from race craft that allows you to use a 3rd gen kit.... it makes install a breeze and it doesnt cost but 150 dollars more when you add the 3rd gen brake kit and spindle = 1200 or so

4th gen front brake kit is over a $1000.... so you lose more weight with the new spindle and everything bolts up with out modding when you get the new RC spindles (no cutting off ears or anything...)

You have to cut and modify your front spindles though. Just cut off the ear as shown in the pics with a sawzal and clean it up with a 4.5" angle grinder. That's the only tricky part.

Since it's so easy, you wanna help?

I gave Joe a call to see if he would be interested in installing them for me, but I guess he's out of business. I never got a return call.

I haven't been home to open them up & read any instructions. I knew there was some cutting, and that's what I was interested in. I remember seing some pics online showing what was cut. I just can't find them now.

I've never done an install on strange brakes, but I did my aerospace hub style ones, which are very similar.

They aren't that hard to do, once you have everything apart you'll see what needs to be cut off the stock spindle.

Might I reccommend while you have the spindle out of the car to cut it, to use the angle grinder on them to take all the casting marks off, then use a wire wheel to clean all of the rust off...... then paint them!

They'll look about 1000 times better in there after they're painted, no more big chunk of rusty metal in there

Thanks. I thought I might even get them powdercoated. I'll probably go with the Alumastars, and want things to look nice.

I can't wait to get home & get a look at things.

I just kept my bogarts when I went to the aerospace, but now I am open to any drag wheel I want really.

Having the spindles powedercoated would be sweet, I didn't take it that far, but I did grind all the casting marks off and all the rust (which was probably a lb each LOL) and paint them with some gloss black rustoleum. They look like gold compared to what they did look like, do it and you'll see

What is the weight difference between going with the 4th gen set up vs. 3rd gen with the race craft spindles?
