Things done tonight: driveshaft in, MAP sensor mounted and hooked up, coils mounted, and regulator mocked up with lines.

I think the coils turned out good, I'll get pics up tomm. I mounted them using the 10mm holes on front of the heads on either side of the water pump... I saw it like that on a car in a mag once. The feed and return lines actually ended up good as well. The Holley reg. I have will sit right on top of the factory outlets.

Default More pics

Coil packs mounted up on the front of the heads. I've got the coil harnesses taken apart to shorten up.

Regulator installed on factory lines

MAP sensor mounted up on a notch I cut in the firewall under the cowling

I've got a buddy that's a dealership mechanic that's coming over to help me wire up for eliminating the factory engine harness. He had the books over here tonight. From what he's showed me it's not going to be that complicated.

They are 2-piece rails. I installed them per the instructions that you can print from the racecraft website. Only thing I did differently on the side rails is that I cut about 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch off the edge of the top piece with the dzus's so the lip of my VFN hood could fit down between them and the fenders. On the front rails I chopped them up and used 1.5 x 1.5 in alum angle to mount them... way easier than the racecraft rec practice.

If I'm not explaining it very well just let me know and I can get some better pics of them installed... i will be a few days as I'm back at work

Thanks, ya I see whats your saying the hood lip hits. Cutting that off would make the hood really flexy. I'm still not sure of the front rails, the extra angle you used. Did you have any pics of that? And what size dzus did you use?
thanks

Not sure about the dzus sizes off the top of my head but I can tell you once I'm back home.(I just had racecraft send a complete kit w/ dzus's) I can also get you some pics and specifics on the front mounts I made... it was very easy and looks good but to try and explain in detail would be painful for you and me, but a couple of pictures will be all you need to know 100%. I'll be back home next Tuesday.

Couple of questions for those that are electronically gifted.
What amp switches/fuses for the following acc?
-stock fans
-water pump
-MSD Ignition

More pics.

Re-routed all the vacuum lines. From the brake booster, the first T goes to the trans, the second T goes to the vac port on the carb, and then goes out to MAP sensor.

Set the carb on the motor for a look at the clearance and to make up the fuel line. Should have plenty of room for a plate system.

Got the Grant steering wheel mounted up.

Still working on it. Not looking forward to electric!

This is how I have the seat back braced. It's a clamp that circle track guys use to put wt on their cars. Cost 10 bucks.

Here's the motor with the radiator in, HVAC panel I made installed, and the throttle cable bracket and throttle cable installed. THe stock throttle cable works good... and looks pretty good too. I got all the slack hid up under the cowl.

And here's the dzus brackets that I made for the front of the hood. Worked good and very easy to make.

I'm making the swith/guage panel for the interior now. All the wires are run into the cab, just need to get them wired up to switches. I've also got to get a usable return line made. Just plumbing in to the evap line did not work... gas started coming out of the canister. I think I've got a plan though

if this is going to be a serious race car with much power on limited tire size you'll need a distributor setup and a MSD digi 7 box...

Just a cam-only engine right now. Hopefully the MSD will do me good for now... wife won't give me any more money.

Got a panel made for the guages and switches tonight. Made it out of alum plate and it replaces the center piece in the dash that goes over the radio and such. Turned out looking pretty good. I'll get pics once I tidy up all the wires.

I've got the cardboard pattern for making the HVAC delete panel still. If anybody ever needs it just let me know and I'll send it to you. I also kept the pattern for the panel I made on the dash.

Got the car all wired up and after hours of searching the parts stores, found some hoses for the radiator. Put oil in the trans and engine, made one more pass over everything, and started on the motor with no ignition until I got oil pressure.

Switched the ignition on and it fired up instantly!!! Idled without any issue for a few minutes and I killed it. This camshaft I've got sounds very nice. Still got to bleed the brakes and set the car down.... I was so pleased when it fired right up.

Took it out on the road for the first time yesterday. It's real smooth at part throttle, no hick-ups in the engine. Part throttle A/F was at +/- 12.0. Did a few full-throttle pulls thru 1st and secong gear with A/F around 12.2. I'll most likely jet down 2 sizes front and back to 72's and 82's, I'll stay with the 4.5 PV. Found 2 fluid leaks this morning after it had sat in the shop over night. A few drop of engine oil had came from the back of the motor > won't be worrying too much about that. Also looks like the pinion seal on my third member is leaking > enough that I'll have to fix it.

Weather permitting, El Nino hit last night, I may try and take it out for a test and tune session at the strip tomm. It's doubtful, but maybe.
