Definately much harder than having PS, lol. I now have a manual rack and it's much easier to steer than the stock one without PS as well. If you want just buy the shortbelt and by-pass it to try it out.

What is the short belt and where does one get it? I've been thinking about this for awhile now. Part number?

If anyone has that part number for the belt mentioned in post 10, i'm interested. Not interested in going to advance or autozone and measuring belts though.

edit.... search got me alot of different numbers, can someone verify? These are just copy and pasted from some of the other threads.

522k6 kellyspringfeild belt auto zone
510K6 with the ASP pulley.
Gates PN K060512
Dayco Poly-Cog 5060525 {6PK1335}

I had another car that was a bit heavier with no power steering and it drove fine. It's something you just gotta get used to. After about 1-2 weeks your arms stop being sore after driving around town and it's no problem.

With the short belt, you keep everything but the PS pump.

I did, but I've had sever cars without PS. In general, I'd rather have the PS for a DD car myself.

If you want more belt wrap on the crank pulley and the water pump pulley here is what I did. It was free and it is working great.
