someone asked earlier, do these covers actually make a good difference? i'm looking at the TA site, and it explains what their cover, or girdle, does, but how well does it help the abuse given to a stock 10-bolt?

I don't know but so far it's held up fine for me even on over 400 rwhp. It couldn't hurt....

687 rwhp, 10'67@132 (1.71, 60'). I just ordered a fab 9" from Midwest Chassis because I felt it wouldn't hold up because I'm pushing the car further (goal is 800 rwhp 4l80 w/brake). Now I can sell the rear for a few $$$ before it broke. My buddy blew his rear on a sticky track and it took out his trans. too (didn't want that).

Well, it looks like I trashed the carrier in mine Sunday. Made a loud clang on the 1-2 shift, barely was able to limp it home, it doesn't like turning corners at all.

I have the 10 bolt the 8.5 one tho. I plan to run about 600-700rwhp tru it with 4200lbs of weight these 8.5s are on some 8 and 9 second impalas its amazing what one more inch of ring gear and it can hold a lot more power.

sorry had to bring this one back up because ive been warned for over a YEAR, that my 10 wont take it... over 70 launches and still kicking.

1.60 60ft times. 7.06 best through1/8 (before recent cam swap) and 491 rwhp and 576 rwt (also before cam swap) on a bone stock 10 bolt minus some no name gears......its all in how you drive.

oh and, through a bone stock trany, minus the vig 3600 also.

hey i hate to semi-thread jack, but figured this would be a good place to post this as i'm sure others who have only been to the track a handful of times will read this. i'm lightly modded; full ram air, borla cb, bmr sfc's, w/ m6 3.42's stock clutch, but i'll be running 275/40 17 BFG t/a DR 2's for the first time instead of less-than-par fuzion zri street tires @ auto club raceway next week ...how much beating should i expect my 10 bolt to take? any suggestions on launch/technique that won't make my 10 bolt sh*t itself?? launch rpms?? the rear end itself hasn't given me any problems yet, bunch of launches on street tires, 65,5xx miles. any recommendations? m6 guys chime in, thanks!

Well when I ran my blue bitch on DRs I heated them up very little and took off form the light at about 3K but don't side step the clutch. Let the pedal out until the clutch slips enough to grab and get you going. Hopefully you have a good enough clutch. After a while of this she'll wanna quit on you.

Good luck.
