car won't hook... help
went to the track tonight and tried several different rpms when launching. 5000= spinning like crazy, 4000= still spinning, 3500= hooks but doesnt produce a good 60'. tires are 28x11.5x16 et streets. pressure was adjusted from 11- 15 psi. suspension is spohn drag bar, spohn tunnel mount torque arm, spohn adj. lca, bmr relo. brackets (middle hole because the bottom hole made it spin even more), adj. panhard bar, bmr springs, stock shocks. front sway bar was taken off also. i dont know what else i can do. i am at the end of my rope here. i am thinking about going with a et drag and see what that does for me. i simply dont understand how some people are leaving off of the limiter with drag radials and i cant even launch at 4000 rpms on et streets. WTF. any help is appreciated.

60s sucked all night they ranged from a 1.7 to a 1.8. 2 gear burnout then letting off of the line lock and rolling it out. i was thinking about going with an et drag. i have a moser 9" so im not worried about breaking it. i would like to leave at 5500 + but in order to do that i need to figure out whats going on. thanks again for the help.oh yeah and i was one of the very few that were having any kind of traction issues.

PUt a set of 28x10.5S et drags on the car part # 3055S and watch the car come to life.
A set of adjustable shocks would help you alot, but the tire, will do more.
I'd get the pinion angle back to -1, adding all that mechanical bind isn't helping any. The S et drag tire, put them at 11 psi before the burnout, and then you'll be able to sidestep it off the limiter and it's gonna leave hard. Just be ready or it, and the parts you're gonna break.

Like JL ws-6 said, but you need to get rid of the lowering springs!
I like the look of sitting low, but you can do that with a spring that will also work for at the drag track. Lowering spring are for handling. The front are to stiff and the rear are to soft.
You might want to try a set QA1 R shock and a 275 or 300lbs for spring depending on your front weight. For the rear 150 to 175lbs spring for the rear and good shock like AFCO.
Sound like you are close to the correct comp but need changes
MT 28x10.5S
4.56 gears
front shock and springs
Rear shock and springs
With the above changes you should be in the 1.5 60's or better.

except for the rear springs and not because they won't help but I still have the stock rear springs on my car.

I still have the stock springs in my car, with the isloaters removed. R serirs front shocks, and an unknown qa1 spring, softer then stock, but they're nowhere near the 275 soft.
I'd put 300 qa1 springs on to start, the 275's seem to make the front of the car bounce and bottom out really easy, to the point I wouldn't even try them unless I was at the end of the rope with nothing left.

its pretty funny because i just made a post last week about the bmr springs versus my stock springs and everyone said to just stay with the bmr springs because it wasn't going to make a difference. i am thinking that the 28" tire is too tall for my gears (4.11) and was also killing me off the line. i was thinking about going to a 26" et drag. can i just replace the front spring with a heavier 300lb. spring and keep the shocks that are on there? can i buy just the rear qa1 springs and use the stock shocks? i have dumped alot of money in the last few months on my " budget" build and am running pretty thin. as far as the pinion angle i thought that if the car was lowered it was supposed to be around -2 to -3?

To the OP: For what it's worth my 26x11.5 ET Streets have worked best with just a very light 2nd gear burnout. If I do a long burnout with lots of smoke they don't hook up as well.

im going to agree and say that the 28 tall tire is probably killing your short time also. But your spinning them, which is unusual if the tire is too large. But a 28 tall tire on a cam only car is overkill IMHO.
