Default Suit Requirement - 3.2A/5?

So I make three phone calls to NHRA and get 2 different answers from 2 different people. Help me out please.

My car is slower than 8.50 and runs nitrous oxide.

Is the correct suit a 3.2A/5 or 3.2A/15 (the 3.2A/15 seems a little much for what I have to do).

since you are faster than 9.99, you should be NHRA licensed, thus you should have an NHRA rulebook...the answer you seek is within those pages..

I did find this though:
Drivers in 9.99 (*6.39) to 7.50 (*4.50) front-engine, open-bodied cars (or closed bodied
without an OEM or full .024-inch steel firewall) with nitrous oxide, supercharged or
turbocharged, SFI Spec 3.2A/15 jacket and pants with SFI Spec 3.3/5 gloves and SFI
Spec 3.3/5 shoes/boots mandatory.
since you should have a full firewall, a 3.2A/5 should suffice

I just applied for my licence - I don't have a rulebook because I sent the papers in last week. I'm assuming that my licence should be here soon.

Thanks for the info.

.

As the rule above shows, it's based on firewall. If you have alum or unapproved steel, then you need the -15.
I have a 6 second, N2O car & I'm required to wear a -5.

Nitrous oxide equipped cars with a full .024-inch minimum steel firewall:
Jacket and pants or suit meeting SFI 3.2A/5, gloves meeting 3.3/5,
and boots or shoes meeting SFI Spec 3.3/5 mandatory.

Taken from NHRA.

I just went thru this and purchased my suit...
Stock firewall, slower than 8.50, nitrous = 3.2A/5 suit, neckcollar, gloves, shoes, and SA2005 full-face helmet.

Shoes are not required with an 8.50-9.99 stock firewall car.

Agreed, just mentioning....

But they are nice when getting in and out of a caged car.
