TEA 1.5 heads suck! Not.. 399.9hp A4
Well I went to heffners today in Md with a few other fbodies in EFA to do some dyno tuning. Heffners has dynojet and is well known for there viper work! 900+ hp viper in there house
My mods:
vig3600
stock 10bolt(holding fine so no need for 12 yet)
SLP LT's which suck monkey ***** according to most on here
offroad pipe
cutout
TSP lid
ported TB
LS6 intake
224/224 .563 114 cam baby cam now LMAO
TEA 5.3 11:1 1.5 heads (flow numbers are like 280 at .500 lift if that so they arent the best but most would say since they suck it wont make power)
anywayyy, time for the dirt!
First pull
388hp WOW more than happy here, i was expecting 360 since thats all TEA is supposed to make
2nd pull
392 getting better
I was seeing 4KR and A/F was a little rich though
Hell, lets try for 400 in this A4
leaned her out a tad and saw 398... tried one more and 399.4 FACK
last pulllllll of the day
399.9 hp SAE corrected with a locked verter for tuning. So, roughly 385-90hp unlocked.
399.9 (400)hp from a 1.5stage TEA A4 with 224 cam
hell with a 230 o bigger cam she would be well up around 410-420
for all you TEA bashers out there, bring it to the track now
maybe I can see some 11.0-2's now
BIG PROPS TO TEA.... Brent, thanks for all the hard work and service. You guys rock there, and hopefully ill get you some low low 11's to back up the ET's
here are the dyno sheets

A/F below

flow numbers on these heads for all those that think that bigger low end flow numbers are the key
- Exhaust ----Intake
.100----51.7----70.2
.200----111.2---138.6
.300----167.6---201.1
.400----216.3---250.9
.500----248.0---282.5
.550----258.5---294.5
.600----265.6---302.2
im more than happy with these numbers through a vig3600 A4!

Re: TEA 1.5 heads suck! Dyno within from today
exactly... dynos vary which are why some see low numbers and some see huge numbers
realy world numbers for a4's in the 380-390 range for A4's are awesome
same for M6's... 410-430 are good solid numbers
btw, i coulda used a short belt, welds, or other tricks... but this was done with no tricks at all! 17x9 chrome ZR1 wheels

Re: TEA 1.5 heads suck! Dyno within from today
great results Mr. crazy farmer, we all know that tea does not suck, they run great with cams like yours its the larger cams they seem not to run good with but with the proper cam selection they are just as good as any on the market and they make a reliable problem free product. now you see how important the dyno is, if you never dynoed you would have never found the 12 hp from the first to 3rd pull, that may be just enough to get you in the 11.0's

Re: TEA 1.5 heads suck! Dyno within from today
thanks everyone... Jeremy, bring that AS 420hp A4 to MIR.. im gonna show ya what a 399.9(note the .9) can do LMAO
ill be happy with anything below 11.29 when i get use to the car again. Hopefully the rear holds together!
Evil, thanks a bunch for fine tweakin this slug at heffners!
ne: you're right.. granted I only got 12hp, but hell that could be the difference in a 11.30 and 11.29 for sure
now hopefully all of us with these budget heads(AS, TEA, Patriot and other below 1500bucks) can kick azz at the track this fall and next spring

Damn! Now I'll never catch ya. Thoes are the very heads I was gonna buy before I had to use my "TEA head money" to rebuild my burned up trans.
You should have put a little more air in thoese rear tires to get ya the .1 HP Congrats on the #s you're gonna be flyin' at the track.
PS: Did you ever dyno your cam only setup?

Just to remind everyone that Thunder made 398 RWHP with stock heads and a 224.

Nice head/cam selection for the chosen product. Just think of the times you will run with VIG and the head/cam at the track. Don't stay away from the farm too long now at the track. I know with all of this study and analysis, your next move may be a Yank--just kidding. Hope you run your fastest time ever at the track. Cheer.......

the a4 car was dont with 17x10 inch HEAVY rims with no short belt or anything.
i think its safe to say that the heads are worth 25-30 hp over cam only. tea gets props in my book, seem like a great product for a great price!

Re: TEA 1.5 heads suck! Dyno within from today
Thunders had to be a M6 since those numbers are not uncommon... it sucks that it takes a H/C A4 to dyno the same as most cam only M6's LMAO
Xfive: no dyno with the cam only setup... i'd guess 365 but thats just a guess. One of my friends had his 98TA there with vig3600 and the thunder 224cam and he pulled 373 i think which i thought was awesome for cam only in a A4! Im guessing i picked up 25-35hp from the heads which is the normal gain? well worth the 1400bucks
the car after getting tuned at the dyno just felt like a beast in its midrange! I told the guys I coulda put more air in the tire... hell coulda took out the air filter and broke 400 even LMAO. Im not worried about a big dyno number, just wanted to get the A/F straight
Kent, if i go to a different verter it would be the TCS 4200 i like there 99% efficiency!
