Default LG Motorsports 346 VS 402 same H/C, its all in the stroke

346 --------- - 402
3000 200/360 - 3000 240/420 +40/+60
3500 240/380 - 3500 280/430 +40/+50
4000 300/395 - 4000 360/470 +60/+75
4500 375/440 - 4500 420/485 +45/+45
5000 420/440 - 5000 460/485 +40/+45
5252 440/440 - 5252 480/480 +40/+40
5500 455/430 - 5500 490/465 +35/+35
6000 480/420 - 6000 505/440 +25/+20
6500 485/390 - 6500 500/400 +15/+10

Part of the reason the same heads and cam were used on the new motor was Money, or lack of money, I also didn't want to deal with the big cam driving experience any more like I had in the 346. At any rate the results speak for themselves. The duration of the cam (g6x3) is much better absorbed by the larger motor, and from what I am told she idles like a baby cammed 346. Don't let the well mannered idle comment fool ya, when Louis hits the gas she turns into a MONSTER !!! I think this motor should be the David Banner / Incredible Hulk build. Idles like the mild mannered David Banner, and then turns into the Hulk when you mash the gas. Looking at the chart you'll see the new 402 has +40 to 60 rwhp and +40 to 75 rwtq from 3000-5252 rpms, and let me remind you my 346 was no slouch. She still has more power up top too !!

I wonder if you will still have the "tip in" and throttle response normally associated with "Mamo'd" 205's since you now have a heavier rotating assembly and longer stroke?

Thumbs up

Congratulations on getting the ride back together and already laying down dyno #'s

I'm still getting used to mine . . . believe me . . . when you start driving your 402 the difference in throttle response and torque at low rpm's is GIGANTIC over the 346

After driving my car for 8 years my foot got used to a certain application level at part-throttle when cruising on the highway. I caught myself cruising at 110 - 120 mph by accident over the weekend a few times I was wondering why traffic "appeared" to be moving at a crawl . . . I was basically autoX'ing on the highway at triple-digit speeds before I looked at the speedo

Keep us updated . . . I'm gonna put a few vid's up next month after I break mine in

Do you really think that would be a fair race? With your e.t. and mph I would say not. From the last time I saw a thread, Doug had not mastered the strip yet Plus I think your mph is still gonna be considerably higher than his. So a roll race would probably end with a similar outcome as the strip.

BUT I'm sure noone here would object to seeing said races

Good question.

I know one aspect of operation where my larger rotating assembly has been affected: initial start-up.

My car fires up . . . for lack of better description . . . a little more "sluggish" than with the 346.

very good numbers for small heads and relatively small cam, however if i were you i would go at least with a LS7 441ci short block.

I haven't been in a lsx car faster than mine. I only have bolt ons and gears. I seen you used to push like 490/440 or something like that with your 346. Really how big of a difference is this new motor? 510/500 doesn't seem like a huge jump to me. Then again I bought my car with the exhaust and gears already installed.

Oh yea, congrats!

This build was all about power under the curve, near stock driveability, and reliability. Also room for future growth (Nitrous or D1sc w/bigger heads to lower compression)

+60 rwhp and +75 rwtq @ 4000 rpms, is that a big enough difference ?? Go back and look at the graph bro. The 346 made 490/445, the 402 is making 510/500 with a few changes left to be made.

Did you happen to look at anything but the peak numbers from setup to setup?

To the OP: Why not get LG to post the actual dynojet overlays from both setups?

The actual graph that shows the 346 and 402 overlayed is posted in the corvette performance section. I tried to copy it and post it here but I couldn't. Feel free if you know how.

Quick Reply: LG Motorsports 346 VS 402 same H/C, its all in the stroke
