Default cut out vs. catbacks??

has anyone compared a cutout on stock exhaust to any aftermarket cat backs? I've been debating on whether to get a cat back or not and would like to see the results. i doubt ill be making any serious power anytime soon.

Cut outs should flow the best, i mean there have been comparisons on dyno's with cutouts open or closed, some catbacks are better then others, but if its for power reasons and not sound reasons your cutout should out perform all catback considering it like like open pipes!

I have a Magnaflow catback and i love it! I have read a cutout would net me around 3rwhp over this catback because it flows so good. but who knows if that is true. But sure sounds good.

thats basically all i wanted to know i figured something like an slp being 3"piping and a straight through muffler might get me more power than a stock cat back with cut out.

with an open cutout your going to get more power then with any cat-back cause your letting the exhaust out before it even goes through the cat-back can't get any better flowing then that

so in actuallity i'd be better off to do headers and y-pipe with stock cat back and cut out over header back full exhaust. i don't think i'm gonna bother with a cat back than until i HAVE to. thanks for the info all of ya's.

I am going back to a stock cat-back and doing a cut-out.... I like the car being quit when I want it to, then being free flowing when it needs to be.

Your car will not get louder with a cat back. If you want the car to be louder get long tubes and a catless Y pipe.

Here is what my H/C car made with the cut out open and closed. I have the stock muffler on my car.

Cutout is cheaper and more power! Dyno proven! Which will go perfect for your budget.

My 94 Z28 had a mild heads & cam setup and a Flowmaster 3" Catback with two resonators, it picked up 19 rwhp with the cutout open and always picked up 1.5+ mph in the 1/8.

Maybe I'm just crazy but my car sure seemed louder with a loudmouth on and everything else being stock.
