I am going to try to set up some time to get back on the dyno and pull the y off and just run open headers to see how much that exhaust is killing me. And while I am at it I want to run the race gas and play with the timing. It is a no brainer that it will make more with higher octane and more timing. I am really concerned with how much the exhaust is effecting my setup. 5-10 hp I am not going to care but if it is 5-10 and pulls to 7k then that is a big deal. And if it is 20-30 more and pulls to 7k then I know where my problem is.

Run the open headers, but alteast put a 10" extension pipe behind them.

They are right but I would at least a 12-18 inch extension to do it right. We have tested this many a times on the dyno and 12-18 is the sweet spot!

Sounds like you have a stout setup ready to breath. Building bad *** engines is all about ballance. Off road y pipes might be great for those little 346's but you have a real healthy 427! The fast might be gagging it a little but not as bad as the y. Also with that compression ratio, and running just 93. Put some race gas in her and crank up that timing. I think you will see 20 plus hp with timing alone going to 28*, and I really have no clue the hp you would gain getting rid of that Y pipe. Let us know how it goes!!! Get that 600rwhp!!!

We are going to be trying a 96 mm throttle body and some 3" true duals with some Dynamax bullets. It is supposed to rain for the next couple of days but stay tuned we are working on somethings. I will put down the number we are all looking for here soon. If not I am going to burn this thing. LOL

^^^NO but we will run it with the new exhaust first and then swap the t body so we will still be able to see the different gains.

Good thread. There is 20-30 rwhp in the exhaust. What MAF is on it?

FWIW, the open headers will make power, but an X setup will pick up the midrange substantially.

It has an LPE 100mm MAF. I don't see where going to SD is going to make any difference at all.

No, its not nick. The 100 is not a restriction. The 85mm at that power level is only 7-9.

Put the true duals on it today. The way we had to run it there is no x or h pipe it is 2 straight pipes to the bullets right at the bumper.
