408 Stroker picks up 73RWHP/54RWTQ with Vengeance FAST 92mm Intake/Cutout
Thought this would be somewhat informative... Just goes to show its the COMBINATION that makes the power.
Customer brought us a car for tuning. It is a 6spd F Body with a built 408 shortblock/TrickFlow heads/and a decent sized camshaft... We noticed right off the car had an LS6 intake and a FLOWDISASTER catback. Other than that most of the bolt ons were in place less a catch can/breather..
Mike spends the better part of the day on the street doing part throttle/drivability and we hit the dyno later that afternoon. TUNED the best we could pull was 441/428... Needless to say this isnt what we or the customer wanted to see. After looking at the logs we could see the MAP dropping like a rock in the upper RPMs... I told the customer the engine itself seemed to be performing fine, but it simply could not breathe... He gave me the green light to add one of our ported FAST 92mm intakes and a cutout to bypass the Flowmaster catback...
So we go back on the dyno the following morning after install and below are the results... 73RWHP/54RWTQ from TWO Bolt ons!!!!!!!!!! Needless to say the customer is now very happy and did not waste his 8 hour trip only to have to come back once he got these things taken care of.
Here is the graph...

I wish our ported FAST would pick up 70rwhp... We would be selling alot more of them than we already do lol!!!
To answer a few questions...
Car has no cats..
We did not build this engine or this car. Just tuning
We did not cap the cutout, BUT we did remove the Catback and pull the car before installing the FAST intake. Doing this jumped power from 441/428 to 478/457.... SO, the intake was worth 36rwhp/25rwtq
Sorry for not being more clear in my initial post guys.. Hope this makes sense now.

Not sure to be honest... Didnt ask and there are no "tags" welded on the primary..
Take it easy on Blu by eh... If you knew his whole story and why he had to drive 11 hours to get a combo that performed you would call him a happy customer and not a cheer leader

Pretty damn good gains from an intake swap and addition of a cutout. That 408 just couldn't inhale or exhale enough to make power. Looks like you got her breathing easy now though. WTG Vengeance !!
How was the tune before you guys tweaked it ??

thats an awesome gain, once you change that LS6 manifold and blowmaster exhaust it could actually breathe. I heard even on a heads and cam setup the LS6 manifold become s a bottleneck.
