Default 684 rwhp on the stock bottom with a slipping belt!!!!!

Well I finally got around to putting Gus's 2000 vert on the dyno yesterday. I don't pay much attention to the graphs since after every pull someone's yelling out the numbers and typically there always climbing, I'm more focused on seeing what my laptop is telling me is going on with the car.
So when we hit 680 rwhp I called it a day. We pulled it off the dyno and then I looked at the graphs-first I was surprised at how choppy they were. Then I notice how it starts to taper up top. So right away I look at the belt-DAMN!!!!! It was loose!!!!!! I never re-tightened it since the last round of mods!!!!
And Gus cruises with this car alot! At the same time we just about hit the limit of Racetronix pump, BAP, and ECS dual nozzle meth kit.
I'm sure with a tight belt it would of hit 700 rwhp.

Mods are:

Stock 2000 short
Patriot Stage 3 317 heads with 2.08/1.60 valves(Yes they fit on a stock short with no problems)
One of my custom cams-it chops
6 rib D1SC 4.25 blower pulley-12 psi
LS6 intake
Supermaxx headers

Car made 624 last season and with the addition of the Patriot heads and LS6 intake we picked up 50 rwhp without changing pulley's.

I can't believe no one has commented. So let me be the first.

Very Nice numbers man !!! Lets see if you hit 700 rwhp with a tight belt like you think you may. Best of luck.

wow thats crazy numbers on a stock shortblock! Sometimes I wonder if its even worth it to go through the trouble to install forged pistons and rods when I see results like this.

I say yes its worth it because forged internals give you a better chance for durability.

V Series tech was making 700+ rwhp on a stock bottom end ls6 with stock internals. If anyone was on borrowed time he was. Had J been running Forged Internals I guarantee he'd have turned up the boost and showed us some 4 digit power !!

I agree 100%. Anything can happen at anytime. The customer cruises with his car alot. Were going to upgrade the fuel system to a Lonnies/Racetronix double pumper before I tighten the block and it looks like a forged 402 or 364 is in the works.

I posted this cars numbers last year when it made 625. The car see's alot of miles in summer, it's been as far as Carlisle with no issues. Considering that all we did is replace the heads and intake to make the car more effecient-and never changed pullies, it should last a while.

how much did the boost drop off with the install of new parts, if any boost drop off? More volume to fill up might cause a lower peak boost number? Also that meth injection is helping that engine a lottttt. Colder combustion chamber can help an engine last longer. But those rods don't like 6700rpm and really don't like 6700rpm at almost 700hp. last question... If the belt slipped on the dyno runs, but does not slip on the street durring a hard hot pull wouldn't the tune be off or leaner considering the car/engine is tuned for the falling off boost and belt slip. I only ask that because my cobra had that issue and I went kabooommmm...

Just curious, when you say " stock bottom end" is that unmolested, or does that mean stock rods and pistons but the motor has been freshend up with better rings and rodbolts?

REGARDLESS , Great numbers!!

The customer won't take the car past 6000 rpm. The car's MAF tuned with some trickery-I just barely went over the 12hz limit so if we tighten the belt we'll be fine.

Car basicaly picked up 50 rwhp with the same timing, the compression also dropped since we went to a 72cc head versus the stock 66CC 241 castings, which will also help it as well. Not to mention the cam has good amount of overlap as well.

If the belt was tighter the curves would just been alot smoother. The customer is well aware that he's "pulled the pin". He just wants to drive it around this summer before he turns up the boost!
