Cam only results with G5X-1 cam and LG PRo Long Tube headers on a Z06
The G5X-1 This was one cam before the G5X-2 and it only got limited use, because our G5X-2 produced more hp on a Cam and head car shortly after the X-1 came out.
The Cam package and Headers were shipped to Indiana and installed there. Then the car went to Speed inc in Chicago for a dyno session. The only other mod to the car was the Filter with the "Zip Tie mod" which is jut taking the filter cover off and adding a K&N filter. This is also through the stock mufflers. The Results:
413rwhp 400rwtq
This car is pure stock except for the LG Pro Long Tube Headers, G5X-1 cam and a couple of zip ties. The first pull, untuned was 404rwhp. the tuning gained 9 more hp at Speed inc. The headers were the off road version with no cats.
We are very happy with these results. The car owner (clarksZ06) is looking forward to more gains with the addition of a pulley and ported TB.
Thanks to Clark for using out products.

Lou, I just installed the G5X1 cam. I posted in a thread a few days ago. I also installed QTP long-tube headers with there Y-pipe which is 3" off of each header into a 4" flowmaster collector. I'm not sure if the 4" out will do me any good since I am using a 4" to 3" reducer back into a 3" system but I have dual cutouts about a foot after the headers in the y-pipe. Will it be possible for me to hit 400 rwhp with an LS6 intake, TB and pulley with stock heads?
As for the Y-pipe, a friend told me the 4" collector will hurt my exhaust flow because the reducer will slow down velocity. Is this true? Would I be better with a 3" Y-pipe with a 3" out?

Stolen,
I think your friend is correct. The 4" y pipe will hurt the velocity and ultimately hurt the HP.
We had a cam and head car with a 4" rear system on his car and abig spintek muffler and it lost power until we changed the rear part of the system.
Your cam should make over 400 if you do the mods you are talking about. Give your exhaust a try and if the results are not there, try something more conventional.

SStolen, i have a Y pipe like yours (3 inch pipes into 4 inch collector, back to reducer to 3 inch). just my two cents, but i don't think it hurts power. I have mild cam and cats, and my power is pretty good, even with 12 bolt with 4.10's. my ET's are also nice. So i would say don't worry about your y pipe.

Vortex Rammer
228/228 XE-R cam 114 LSA
stock manifolds with off-road x-pipe in center section
ASP pulley
ported TB
and ran 412 rwhp so I don't think that there is much exhaust restriction in these cars even without headers.
