Question 99 camaro and 04 gto low numbers? Does this seem right?

Alright guys Ive been doing some browsing but looking for your opinions. I got a buddy that is in an automotive program at a community college and they have a dyno and can dyno cars for free. They dynoed a bone stock 99 a4 camaro that put down 247rwhp 255rwtq. Then my buddy just dynoed his 04 a4 GTO stock except a cold air intake and part of his exhaust is hacked off so it dumps under the cabin(long story but magnaflow catback is on the way) and put down 269rwhp 280rwtq. This is on a mustang dyno, does this seem right?

Cliff Notes:

99 camaro a4 bone stock put down 247rwhp 255rwtq
04 gto a4 stock except cold air intake and half exhaust missing put down 269rwhp 280rwtq

Mustang Dyno

I thought this was real low, does this seem right??

mustang dynos will read low! The camaro should be around 290-305 and the gto should be around 310-320whp on a dynojet

Sounds about right for a base setup Mastang Dyno. Most Mustang Dyno owners calibrate the dyno's to read higher so they are closer to Dynojet #'s.

my buddy told me to guess and i was in that range on both, thats why when he told me i was in shock! so mustang dynos read low, dynojets read high...im gonna stick with track times.

It can happen with Mustang dynos...sometimes theyre 20%+ off the fwhp power. One local dyno here is like that..viper did 410rwhp for 510fwhp..

Dude,If the mustang dyno is set up right,it will read 30hp less then a dynojet. However, the user can adjust the stangdyno to read like a jet. In your case,it was set up like a stang dyno should be. I too lose 32hp going from a jet to a stang dyno.

See this is what I keep hearing, that basically you can set it up to read whatever you want. Why is it that you say in this case it was setup how it should be? To read way low?! Why not set it up to be accurate??

if its a mustang dyno i think they can do 1/4 mile runs

do a couple and see what the trap speed is you can kinda work it back from there to see if its right

I got 495hp from one of my old set ups. Then went to a stang dyno with no mods changes and got 368hp. My car didn't slow down. So,if you are not happy with the numbers,go to a dyno jet or get the stang opperator to make it read like one. this is no big deal,go to the track and have fun.

No way a 04 a4 gto will dyno 3XX anything on a mustang dyno. my was 280 on a dyno jet 100% stock and with mods in sig did 333. and a auto 99 should ready about 280 on a mustang dyno maybe.

i think the differences between the 2 cars (99z and 04 goat) are minute at best. the 04 car has an ls6 intake. consider the thousands of cars out there now that don't follow any kind of pattern with regard to power output regardless of year. what i'm saying is that the cars should dyno very close to each other. i think it'd be a wash racing those 2 stock vehicles given that the lighter weight of the z would most likely be offset by the ls6 intake on the goat. blah blah flim flam flurgadurga.

dynos are tuning tools. who cares what they read numerically as long as you're getting the highest number possible by adjusting the tune...? put the cars on the track and then worry about numbers. dynos can read whatever the operator wants them to..

i think my dog takes a more meaningful **** in the morning than what those dyno numbers represent.
