a engine is like an air pump, the more air and fuel you can get in and out the more power you will make..these magazines are so full of crap, there is no substitution for displacement..there is no way in hell that 5.0 is gonna flow more than a 6.2 without being fully maxed out..

Yes this applies to engines using the same technology.... but since the 5.0 has two cams and more valves, it allows the smaller displacement of the 5.0 to flow like a 6.2. No way in hell that engine is maxed out... The only problem with it I see is it will cost a fortune to mod, but other than that its a solid piece. As pat g said, guys with laptops are going to have a field day with this new beast. I would still rather have have a pushrod 6.2, but in a lighter car than the 5th gen ss. Thats whats going to give ford an edge with the 11 gt, 3500lbs and a solid axel. The stang is going to be alot more forgiving on the drivetrain parts compared to the boat of a 5th gen comaro.

quoted for truth

So thats it guys, its up to all of us, we must admit we are finally down on power with the LSx Camaro compare to the Ford icon.
Thats what GM deserves for making the Camaro this heavy. The LS3 is a killer piece and its a bit stronger than this 5.0l; look at the LS3 vettes, theyre crazy fast stock. Way faster than Camaro and mustang 5.0l. It all comes down to the old hp/weight equation.

Props to Ford to putting this badass 5.0l. For the non-believers, I say shut up because this motor will respond very good to mods. As good as a LS3, I dont know..but close I'd say!

I wil still buy a 5th gen, but I will know then how the Mustang guys felt from the debut of the LSx f-body til today

I am curious to see if it will crank out 570rwhp with 7psi and headers like an LS3 will.

It might do it once, we all know what poor quality rods & pistons ford uses in the other N/A mod motors.

It'll be interesting for sure to see how well they take to mods. There hasn't really been any motors lately that don't offer decent gains with the bolt-on stuff.

The 2-valve motors weren't great, but the last one that mattered was made in 2004, which I don't consider to be "lately". The blower motors are a no brainer, and the 3-valve motors seem to mod well. True they don't put out the same numbers as an LS1/2/3, but they are also alot smaller and pick up respectably. If the 5.0 gains similarly then I think we'll see 400+ rwhp bolt-on cars before too long.

Of course there will always be the people who won't give credit no matter what. The car could put down 450 rwhp with bolt-ons and someone will say, "that sucks, look what a C6 Z06 can do with bolt-ons..."

As long as the 350Z no longer outruns a 5.0, I'm good.

no i was saying yes, thoes 5.4's with the forged internals can hold their own at 500hp but the ones with stock (junk) non forged internals cant.

Gotcha. Yeah it's hard to argue that the bottom ends aren't weak in the NA 4.6 motors. It'll be interesting to see if they did anything to address that in the new 5.0.
