Default 5.3 heads guys get in here.

I'm just curious as to know what kind of power you guys make. My car is currently cam only (Torquer 2) and I'm considering doing 5.3 heads in the future. If you post please let me know what compression you're running.

I made 445/400 with 5.3's and a f14 cam and a BBK intake. Kooks 1 7/8 headers and duals. Headed were milled .030 and I used a cometic .040 gasket. With the valve reliefs in the pistons I was around 11.4:1

To the people that reply in this thread, please post what 5.3 head you are running to include TSP, TEA, AI, etc. Thanks.

Did you ever dyno with the Fast 90? I used to want to run the TEA 5.3's with my X1 and ported 90/90 combo.

just under 440/400 isn't bad for a 224/230 cam with high compression. I'm assuming higher end heads would net similar results with out the added compression.

My heads were just home ported heads done by xfactorpitbulls ( a moderator here). They had 2.02/1.57 valves.

mods are in my sig. the dyno was not very nice to my set up, but I really don't care. It made 399hp/369tq if I remember right. This was with the LS6 intake and ported throttle body. I have not made it back to the dyno since going to the Fast set up, but I hope to in the next few weeks. The heads were milled .20 and I am running GM MLS head gaskets. I am a little over 11:1 not sure of the exact number. If you do decide to go with 5.3's I would look at the TEA's for sure. Good luck with your decision.

i had a set of older tea 5.3s with a 228r cam and made 436 rwhp, 402 rwtq. that was with a stock fast 90/90, 1 3/4 headers through an m6. milled down to 57 cc so compression was 11:6- 11:7 or so iirc.

A lot of TEA heads have been netting decent numbers. That sure is a lot of compression too. Must have been a fun street car.

TEA 1.5 5.3's from 2005 w/ a 224 228 114 +2 (xer's), with all the goodies went 11.31 @ 120. I think it dyno'd with the converter locked around 440'ish.

I spent 30 mins searching the forum for another member concerning his 228r/LS6 2.5 combo. I found many TEA 1.5 5.3 heads netting low ET's but have average dyno numbers... Most of the TEA combos didn't have huge cams either. Just an observation I made.

Seems like the TEA 5.3 head with a smaller split cam matched to their flow characteristics with a good converter yield stellar results.

$1500 bucks for the TEA 5.3's. If you already have rockers then the Trick Flow "as cast" 220cc heads seem to be a good deal within the same price range. At the same time a good set of ported 243's will give great results too... Decisions. I'd go for the best heads budget allows and design a cam for those particular heads. That's what I've learned after piecing together random parts. I'm done.

Thanks for all the info guys. Keep these coming.

I'm really impressed with how much power you can make with a smaller cam and the right compression.

i'm running tsp 5.3 heads and a 233/239 113 lsa cam with a fast 92/92 setup and 1 3/4 headers. heads are stock 62cc out of the box and cam was installed straight up. Running about 10.7 compression with MLS gaskets. #'s in sig and were also before I got my xpipe and true duals put on.
