Default LT1 dyno, my first time!

So i ran my 'bird on a Mustang Dyno at Morrisville State College during an auto show today. I was expecting to pull around 250hp (mods in sig) at the rear wheels, but to my surprise, my best run had these numbers:

274 hp @ 4467 rpm
347 ft-lbs @ 3194 rpm!

So i'm glad my first dyno runs went so well, and it only costs $20! I wanted to try a run with my cut-out open because I still have the stock intermediate pipe, but we didn't have time to re-route the exhaust hoses. An '01 ZO6 who went after me only pulled 337 ft-lbs, so I'm beginning to wonder it my numbers are normal. The guy who sold my car to me said it was "all stock except for the performance chip and the corvette heads!" I just assumed he didn't know what he was talking about. Maybe it has a Jet chip or some kind of tune done to it.

are your sure the RPM for the HP peak wasnt 5467rpm?? 4400rpm seems like a low rpm to be peaking at for an LT1 to me?!?! even the B-Body LT1 should peak 5000-5200rpm stock.

also, at what rpm did the dyno pull start at?? are you sure the torque peak wasnt at the start of the run (a torque spike usually occurs at the start of a run)

The pull started at 40 mph in 4th gear, so around 1800 rpm.

Pull 1
269 hp @ 4202 rpm
347 ft-lbs @ 3094 rpm

Pull 2
274 hp @ 4467 rpm
347 ft-lbs @ 3194 rpm

Pull 3
269 hp @ 4631 rpm
334 ft-lbs @ 3796 rpm

There is a big difference in rpm. The only error i can think of is they have the wrong weight listed. They have it at 3750 lbs when i told them it was more like 3450 lbs.

i see, well the numbers seem consitent so thats good. Do you think he put 3750 race weight to include driver and other stuff??also, i might be wrong on this and not saying it to try to bring you down, but wouldnt putting the weight up on a mustang dyno make the power go up because it thinks youre pulling more weight than you are? or does it work the other way??? anyways i think if imputting weight is a factor on mustang dynos, whoever builds them really should think about having some kind of scale integrated into it so that it can accurately measure the weight of the car (and thus HP).i mean, wouldnt that be the smart thing to do??

It would be a neat feature for dynos to measure weight too, maybe on one with rollers for all 4 wheels. I honestly was expecting about 250 hp and 300 ft-lbs at the wheels, so maybe my numbers are inflated. I weigh 200 lbs (all muscle!) so the car would be 3650 lbs with me in it, so 3750 isn't too far off.

Default my 1st time dyno'ing

I bought a full bolt on lt1 from an older man who said it has a hot cam . Dynoed 302rwhp. Very lean. New 30# injectors, racetronix fuel pump, holly fpr, dyno tune. Corrected 340@5700rpm . This was done on a dyno that LS1's with lid and filter barely break 300rwhp. Keep modding, but remember to tune. Since your in new york, take a day road trip to kaltech, put your car on the dyno get a tune.

Don't remember, it was probably higher than mine. The guy with the Z06 was bragging that he had one of the most powerful cars there, but he didn't see the oldmobile with a 455!
