Default 5.3 with LS6 cam

I have a 5.3 with an ls1 intake and a 2004 ls6 cam installed. I was just wondering what kind of hp from the back of the motor is to be expected with this combo?

What would be the best bang for the buck upgrade for this combo?

It has been proven to make more power then the ls6. i have a truck intake on my Chevy II. pulls all the way to 6900 before it quits breathing acording to my map readings.

I guess all these years of people swapping on $350 dollar LS6 intakes on LS1's has been a waste. Seems like people should just save $250 and flop a truck intake on there...

I am not the smartest guy but I don't think the truck intake will fit under a stock fbody hood. I also have read that the truck intake out performs the LS6 intake but I have no proof, and no time to try and find it.

same thing I've heard...you just get hood clearance issues on vettes and f-bodies.

Would be interesting to see if that is true, from what I have always heard the truck intake makes as much or more hp then ls1 with more torque, while ls6 makes more hp and about the same torque.

Truck intakes are just ugly as sin and wont clear our hoods. Thats the only reason.

Won't fit under the hood. Better than the LS6 intake up til around 6500 rpms and then the LS6 pulls away.

What I said was a joke, I looked through the Hot Rod page and did not see where it said truck intakes are better then LS6's. I did however see where it said the LS6 is a little better then the truck though. As for the LS6 pulling better after 6500rpm, LS6 intakes usually fall on their face right around 6500rpm. Truck intakes are designed for low end grunt I.E. it's in a ******* truck. While they're not a POS in on the high end they do not out perform a LS6.

My friend with a stock 5.3l in his 2003 blazer switch from a truck intake to a LS1 intake for looks. Just happened to run much better at the track, went from 13.9@97 to 13.7@99.

you could sawp it for a hotcam or ideally asa cam and still use the same valvesprings. the cost of selling yours and buying one of those would be minimal but the gains under the curve and up top would be nice.
