Default 2011 GT dyno results...

Well, as many of us here are well aware, Ford has stepped it up, in a BIG way.

The new 5.0 is a monster, and seems to like to be tuned as much as any Stang in the past, check out the gains:

This is a bone stock 2011 GT, NO mods other than a tune, 93 octane on both pulls.

Looks healthy. Is it a 4v or a 3v motor?

Well, I'm glad Ford stopped ******* around with the 4.6. I used to be a ford guy, but I stuck with the pushrod motors, and lets face it, the LS motors are better.

That is a big improvement and nice that their is finally a ford production engine that makes decent power without boost. That being said I am not that impressed. Engine is tweaked quite a bit from the factory and will be limited on the upside by displacement. As soon as the ls engines get direct injection this engine will not look so good in comparison. My 03 cobra had this horsepower stock and was not that fast. Thanks for the dyno numbers.

Good numbers from an na motor. I'm glad they started to produce engines with some power that don't need forced induction. They keep raising the horsepower bar but unfortunately they keep raising the weight also.

Well, the GT is some 150-200lbs lighter than the new Camaro SS...

There are only 2 Mustangs I would ever drive, A 04 Mach 1 or 2011 GT 5.0, that new 5.0 motor is going to surprise a lot of new camaros.

do you have any stock/tuned LS3 graphs you can lay over it? would be an interesting comparison.

It was...on the stock tune.

Notice the stock pull hits a brick wall at 6800.

Lemme see what I can dig up.

If the engine is "tweaked quite a bit from the factory", how is it that it gained 22 peak RWHP, 48 peak RWTQ, and a max of almost 50 RWHP at one point over the factory "tweaked quite a bit" tune?

Preliminary results from headers/X-pipe are showing gains in the 25-35 RWHP range. CAI also looks to gain a bit. Seems reasonable that 425-ish or so "bolt-on" HP should be relatively easy to get too.

Concur on the limited displacement - pretty much nothing will match the LS-series in that regard.

Mike....new GT is ~250 lbs lighter than the SS (~3600 vs ~3850). Thanks for the data.

+100000 on this...it just proves this 5.0l is NOT tweaked from factory.

Impressive results; this new 5.0l will be a terror on the streets!

This, from the last "car guy" in the country to find out the 2011 Mustang GT has a 4V engine... Yeah, let's face it...

I have no concern over who prefers what, but to come out and say something so "matter of factly" when you've already shown you don't know a thing about the other engine you're comparing... Foolish is an understatement. Next, you'll be all shocked "when" they run 9's with it...

I'm saying that I never cared about modular motors in the 1st place.
