Explaination For These Dyno Numbers???
I have a 99 formula ls6 intake, Pacesetter longtubes (Race), ORY, Magnaflow Catback, no EGR, smooth bellow, K&N filter, SLP Lid, 3500 Stall, MSD wires, and a mail order tune. I am getting a cam installed as we speak and a dyno pull was done for a base line before the swap and it was 281 whp 288 wtq SAE corrected on a Dyno Jet. The AFR was at 14.9 and 15.1 uncorrected. I have been reading threads that bolt on LS1's make well over 300whp and i was wondering what might be causing these numbers. The mail order tune was done before the stall was put in but i dont see how that would effect the numbers that much. Will and AFR in that range cause this or is it the tune?

Forgot to mention, we also compared my dyno results and curve to a 99 camaro that was in the shop that just has a lid, filter, stock manifolds, cats, and a catback tuned that made 319whp and 326wtq.

My guess.... the tune is way lean, and you're motor might not be making the same cylinder pressure as the other car and if the other was a stick, your torque converter is eating up some of the power as well.
First thing I'd worry about is getting the afr back down in the 12.5:1 range. 15:1 will melt pistons and cause enough knock to break off a ringland.

The other one was also an A4 with a 3200 stall. What should i look for after the cam is installed if the numbers still dont add up. A tsp v2 cam is going in. What numbers can i expect will all of my mods? Thanks

baseline pulls are just that, to see what wrong with the base tune. If the tune was corrected, timing pulled and done on the correct timing step, you'd see much better numbers, and you will with the cam.

You really need to figure out why you're seeing 15:1 afr. Do you have a hypertech program in there? Is the motor mechanically sound?
Chances are good that if you have that lean of a tune, you're getting knock and pulling a considerable amount of timing.

no hypertech. It was actually a mail order from a sponser. When I got the ECU back it, the car felt really good from how it was running before the mail order so i thought everything was fine. I never brought it to a dyno for a proper tune until i decided to put a cam in it. To my knowledge everything on the motor is fine. It only has 86k on it, isent ticking or making any noises what so ever. The shop has a baseline tune from another camaro in the shop with similiar mods but the cam is going to be finished on the car today and will be tuned all day tomorrow. With my setup i was expecting around 385whp so if it gets tuned correctly i should hopefully see 104 hp gain from my inital dyno of 281

Here is a quick picture I took of the first run on the dyno. The red is my car and the blue is the 99 camaro with similiar mods without longtube headers. The AFR is is in the smaller graph below. The highest point on the red AFR is at 15.1. It appears that my mail order tune was off for what it should have been with my mod setup.

Got the car tuned yesterday after the torquer v2 was installed and here is the dyno graph. A huge improvement over my baseline run. A difference of 85 HP and 43ft torque through an A4.

New dyno looks good, but it's uncorrected, meaning it's exactly what your car made at the rollers, which is valuable for sure, but most people go by SAE corrected which corrects for humidity and temperature and barometric pressure. SAE corrected you would have made less power because if you look at your conditions, it's cool, low humidity which certainly makes more power at the wheels.
I'm just happy you got your AFR down into the mid 12's which is much safer. You should post up who you got that mail order tune from, because that was disaster waiting to happen. 15:1 afr is a ticking time bomb, and shitty for power as you learned first hand.
