Default Lowest dyno bolt-on car

All this talk about high dyno numbers, lets talk about my dyno pig.My 99 SS 6 spd made just 296 rwhp with a lid. 328/340 rwhp/tq after LTs, cutout, and tuning. No free mods were done at the time. Anyone else have comparable or lower numbers? This car does have 118k on the clock so no telling how much it's lost through the years. The car was kept absolutely stock until recently.

I think those numbers are good for a stock A4. I got 292rwhp with my 02 in stock form. Just open her up more with mods and u will see a good gain. I started low, but i gained 100rwhp with bascially LID, Cutout, FLP headers and a Cam. Check the dyno graph when it was stock against the mods listed above. http://www.msnusers.com/CarsRelatedG...oto&PhotoID=10

Mine was 290 rwhp and 306 tq stock, but ran 13.27@ 105mph. Added a TC went 12.97 still at 290 rwhp. It's all relative, so don't get too hung up on dyno numbers and concentrate on your 60-fts.

With just a lid I pulled 291/297. That was also with big *** tires in the back, which might be 3rwhp. But still, I could throw excuses if I wanted to, like how I was one of the first people on that particular dyno and the owner didn't know what he was doing, or how I dynoed it at a higher elevation (still haven't figured out how to correct that). But yeah, I'm fine with my numbers. That real test comes when I get the car out here on the East Coast and run on some good tracks

you might want to do a compression check and compare it to a lower milage motor to see if if there is a loss there. also make sure you do all those free mods, they make a difference and dont cost a thing. your numbers are not that much off but are a little bit low for LTs. i made 336/345 with just lid and free mods but my car is a M6 with the origanal 10 bolt under it. good for 12.80s though.

my car dynoed...301hp, 317tq with a lid and a cut out (99 SS M6) and i think that these are low numbers compared to other stock cars i have seen (a friend's 01 z28 M6 bone stock down to the paper filter dynoed 317hp)

but after i added a TR224 cam only.......323hp, 327tq,
Patriot 5.3 heads, Pacestter LT, LS6 intake, dyno tune.....398hp 388tq
all runs through open cut out, with 17x11 chrome ZR1's 315tires

My "dyno-pig" put down 356 to the tires AFTER a TR230 cam, holley intake, tsp lid, Yank ST3500 converter, Jet hot LTs, hooker ORY, 3.73 gears, and an open cutout.... but then she ran 11.88s @ 113.... not bad for 356 rw, eh?

To me its screeming "Give me more air" my car was the same way" Over came it by #1
LS6 intake #2 Maf #3 get the egr crap off/edited out ---woke my car up hard core
my car is a A4 and now with a 554/575@112 cam it dynos over 400 on 26lb injectors
so i think -a good edit and feed it some more air -youll see some nice gains -dyno without a A/C belt on i've seen some compressors really drag down a motor "due to high miles" every car has its nitch --you just need to find it --my car used to run 13.6's @103 after lid/cutout/3200 verter/12.8/after ls6 intake/maf/cam/edit 11.97@114 now mind you this is on a 2:73 gear --i now have 4:10's it will drop my ET by .04 or better
And what did all of this really do "Give me more air" if you think about it
just keep hitting the tech forum you are bound to find a lot more people that have the same issues and more that have figured out what the problem is

I have similar results with all the bolt ons and a 224/224 581/581 112 with tuning I am only able to 360hp this is through a 12 bolt with stock cat back and still the 99 ls1 intake. My best quarter was a 12.76 with terrible driving I have been working on my driving and will hopefully get it down to a low 12 second car. I have installed a cut out and plan on getting a pair of stage II 5.3 patriot heads an LS6 intake, retune and put the car on a diet. Don't feel bad about the numbers as some cars react to bolt ons differently then others. Good Luck Jessie

Is it just me or does it seem like the 99s make less power than any other year?

My 99 30th ta (a4) pulled 291 rwhp/ 300 tq, down to the paper air filter. I figured that was about average for that year.

Had you done any free mods at the time with the mods listed above. GMHTP got 10 rwhp when they did the free mods to their 99 TA. That would put you right in the ballpark.

No I didn't do any free mods. I think your numbers are average without the LS6. I have always had average dyno numbers based on my mods. Some guys with very similar mods have had higher ##s, but then again no two cars are the same. I have come to terms with average results and manage my expectations with each and every modification. I managed my expectations for my ls6 heads for about 430 rwhp and i had actual results of 431. This is because if i look at the h/c dyno results of say 450
with different exhaust/ cam set ups and i set my expectations for 450 rwhp and i get less i will disappointed. There are a lot of people out there with average dyno numbers, they just don't post.

Lightbulb How does your air/fuel look on your 99ss?

I think a dyno tune could result in some major power increases. Remember, things run a little richer after headers. Do a wideband air/fuel dyno and let us know!

BTW- 97 C5 307rwhp/325ftlb (intake only)--95k at dyno time.

98,200 on it now.
