Bingo. The graph is ACTUAL horsepower and ACTUAL torque. The air in Ohio right now is VERY cool. My car made 375 actual rwhp and 388 rwtq in cold air when it had just boltons. Call up the shop and get the SAE numbers. I'd bet they are about 355 rwhp and 380 rwtq

You guys are arguing how much the torque converter multiplies the torque and comparing it to actual engine torque?????

Looks more like it downshifted on the graph...

Right.....

If you made 427, you made 427 Its no big deal, your not selling anything so I don't see why the witch hunt is brewing....

Get off here, get in the car and enjoy the torque.....

everyone is missing the point. Dynoing with an unlocked converter always gives higher torque readings, cuz the converter multiplys torque like its supposed to.

Yank used to post dynos of their converters with stock engines and they dynoed 500-600 ft lbs of torque.

The reason most dynos are posted with locked converters is that some converters are less efficient than others. Dynoing with locked converters shows the true power gains.

ROFL this thread is funny.

My friend dyno'd his S4 the other week. He had a similar spike where it said he made 1017 all wheel torque..................is he claiming he actually made that? nope. To do so would make him look like a fool.......................sort of like you did by doing it.

I'd be happy to run the guy when the tracks open back up here in a month or so...with my measly 372 on a locked converter.

somebody posted years ago that A4s and dynos go together like hot dogs and turds,or something to that effect.this thread is proof of that..
i've learned that dynos are a tool,to quantify results from mods and to assist in dialing in the tune.
the track is the best indication of power to the wheels.
last time i took my old A4 Z/28(TR220 cam,3000 stall converter) to an open dyno day,the TQ spiked at a little over 400ft lbs, which i ignored.the HP was about 360.ran low 12s in the 1/4 mile, trapping about 113mph if i remember right.
if it was an M6,numbers would have been around 375hp and 360ft lbs.
bottom line is it's hard to get an accurate TQ reading through an unlocked verter.

My thoughts exactly. Not that it's a huge cam, but small...

the TQ multiplication of the verter will only be at the launch.by the 60ft mark it's basically gone.
so in effect your seeing much higher TQ levels at the wheels then the motor is actually producing, but just at the "hit" or launch.
that's why you see bolt on only cars run in the 11s,with high stall verters, and the proper suspension set up of course.
it's not about being "ricers" or whiney punks.those of us who have been around awhile had to learn this stuff, you will too.instead of copping an attitude listen and educate yourself.

My 401 LT1 made 600+ at just off idle on the old Dynojet software (Pre Win pep 7), do my numbers also count. Now they are 400 with the new software (oops did I just post that) with my stall that flashes to 5k rpm. With WIN pep 7 the bigger the verter the less the torque (less efficiency). If your super secret combo is on a dynojet, tell them to upgrade to win pep 7. And try dynoing again... If you actually want the highest torque go in and jact the compression up to 15 to 1 and use E 90 or better for a fuel. Just say it's the cam.

I would say just remove anything on the graph below 3800 rpm and it shows what it is.

With that much tq it's not a surprise that the teams let go, those numbers are surprising. Car must be an animal on the street!
