I just freshened up my short block and changed to an EPS cam . I was spinning it to 7400 before the rebuild but found a lifter had lost its keepers and had a plunger coming apart.

Good to know that .

How about the valve length ? is it the same?

Have u take any picture by chance for the valves

Thanks.
No pics of the valves but i am sure TEA might have some for you...I went with them since they know the exact valve angle of the TFS heads so it was a no brainer...They told me the ls3s sometimes are 10-20 shorter than the 2.04 ferrea valves...they came out dead nuts the same when i checked preload on my morel lifters, so no shimming down the stands or getting longer pushrods was needed...I lapped the intakes in with 400 grit compound just to make sure they would seal nicely...Since i was at it i did the exhaust too, and replaced the valve seals and make sure the springs were shimmed .015 more do to losing 5 or so lbs...Probably not needed by i said screw it...

the valves were really nice, my exhaust valves 1.575 are now heavier than my intakes...If i were to get TFS heads or anything with a 2.04" valve and larger these are a no brainer...almost the weight of Ti and 1/4 the cost...

Yeah i have done a bunch of ram air tests...100mph iirc was around .25 PSI...not much but every little bit helps and cant be accounted for on the dyno so we decided to leave it a hair rich and only give up 2rwhp...might need to make it even more rich after i get a wideband installed and do some logs we can get a better feel for what the car needs...Now comes the track dyno testing to see what it responds to better...

get the 92/92 on the car yet my shortblock has 55K miles, i got it with 29K before the modding started, it only had tinted windows and a k&n filter...

That can very well happen... If I can't drive it to the ET I want, i'm more then interested to see if its the car or my shifting that can't get it there.

Chris, if you don't get 9's now you need to donate that motor to my Ram.. and go LS7, i'm sure somehow you would push 800rwhp out of a 7.0 n/a..haha.

got a day planned for the track?

The cam that was in the car was a Futral Grind spec'd for a friends 383. When he upgraded to a 408 and a cam by Geoff, I got his old 383 cam and threw it in my Nova since it was a lot lighter and a Race car. That was a 239/243 .612/.612 112lsa+2. The car ran faster the higher i shifted it even with the old.6.0 truck intake.

The cam Geoff spec'd me is a 238/250 .603/.596 110lsa+4. THis should put me shifting at 7000 now instead of having to rev so high. I was running old stock lifters and bought a new set of ls7 lifters. as it was spur of the moment finding out they were bad.

Motor is in the car now but I have to finish putting intake, headers , water pump etc on and getting it running. Will dyno it sometime maybe next week or atleast run it at the track next week if weather permits.

Old cam went 10.24@128 with a 1.42 60 ft. Pulled the plugs and were coated with oil since the rings never seated the first go around. If the rings seat properly this go around it should have quite a bit more cyl psi. 9's or bust

raceweight was what like 2600-2800 right? I remember that thing was crazy light...

yeah if i do a 347 over winter i will bump the compression with lightweight slugs, e85, let it spin it the moon with a larger cam, go solid roller, and light tension rings with a well balanced setup)...we will see though, i am getting ahead of myself...hahaha

pretty good setup though on the 5.3 heads...60ft could use some work...you should get 9s in just the 60ft alone...

I need to get a 2500lb fox roller and see what this thing can really do haha

My other cam was all wrong for my engine, this cam was built with 60 ft in mind as it will build a lot more cyl pressure.
With the other cam, I could have ran it on 87 octane if I wanted with 11.64/1 compression

Yes it was 2600 with me in it last time I scaled it. That was 30 lbs ago on my own body weight.

I changed converters a while back and dropped from a 1.56 60 ft to the 1.42 and the car went from a 10.54 best to a 1o.24
