Default open headers vs true duals on 383

just some interesting info. 78mm lsx on this one and dynatechs with open headers. no extensions. if it wouldn't have died off at the top for whatever reason it would have pulled 490's. graph with smoothing at 1 was 488/475

I assume open headers provided you with more gains?

I would think no extensions would mess up the 02 readings. What are the specs on the true duals?

yes, the blue is open headers, red with duals. +5rwhp and 15rwtq. the duals are 3" with an X pipe and bullets and turn downs before the axle.

I thought it would screw it up too not having collector extensions at all but it ran fine. ran it at the track that way too.

i dont know looking at your graph i think you will do better at the track with the true duels over the open headers.. sure you picked up 15 ft lbs peak but you lost 20+ ft lbs
for almost 1000 rpm of your powerband .. same on the hp side.. you lost as much before the curve as you gained after...

if your stall is 4400 then run the open headers.. but if its in the 3's then keep the true duels

just my .02

the car is a 6 speed car, he launches at 5500-6000+ rpms and never sees below 4000 rpms during the run while racing. also a set of merge collectors will def help pick up tq and hp at lower rpms (as if that matters).

I used the headman kit out of Jegs for my duals. Raging Motorsports heads, Stage II, Comp XE-R cam 236/232 .602/.575 112lsa. my camaro is no longer a 'street' car or daily driver so I'm going to bump up to something like a 250/260ish .600 110lsa or so
