Default Low dyno numbers and confused?

I have a 1999 ss stock bottom end m6 with current mods:
slp lid
stock ported tb
ls6 intake
799 heads in stock form with dbl springs
tsp tsunami cam 235/240 .648"/.609" Camshaft
bbk long tube headers
cutout on off road y
stock clutch and stock 3.42 gears

I took it to the local dyno tuner and the car feels strong but only made 360rwhp 348 ft-lb tq. @ 6300. It was a mustang dyno. I was expecting around 400+. The car feels strong but I don't really have anything to compare to. Does this seem in line?

Sounds low, 400rwhp with that combo isn't an unreasonable goal. Are there signs of a slipping clutch or valve float?

Wow that is some monster lift and duration there! I'm running basically the same setup as you but with 3.73 and home ported 243s and comp Cam 224/230 .590 lift and making just under 400 at the wheels. My guess would be that Cam is too much for your heads or your having some serious valve float

I am using the recommended valve springs from tsp to match the cam. I may need to port the heads though.

He said I should still be able to run in the 7's in the 1/8th. And that i may want to consider some kook headers.

i think u should find a dynojet dyno and just do a pull on it and see what it puts downs. shouldnt cost u more than $60 or $70 for just a pull and no afr reading. see how much of a difference there is between the 2.

yeah. headers are going to scavenge off the heat and let it breathe better especially with that cam. put those on and with some good gas you may bust 400. id say youd hit em since your a m6. my a4 did 393rwhp with my 228r

thats a monster cam, my cam in my 416 isnt even that big. your seriously limiting your power band and with a ls6 intake and stock heads your not ganna be able to make power up high where that cam is designed to work, your leaving alot on the table

should I have the 799's ported or try to find used aftermarket heads. Budget is always a consideration but I don't want to cut corners and have to spend more later.

You should'nt be confused nor disappointed with those numbers. On a dynojet you will dyno higher more like 390+rwhp. My car dynoed 350rwhp on a dynojet, on a mustang dyno ill be lucky to see 320-325rwhp. Also as mentioned above forget the dyno there's a couple of things you can do to work better for the cam you have so everything can work well together.

Default dyno

When I put my home ported 243's on my car and ls6 intake, shortie headers and off road y-pipe, borla cat back with stock cam it made 340 to the wheels on a mustang dyno. It made 360 on a dyno jet with nothing changed. What gear did you dyno in ? I think that will change your results.
