Default 2009 Z06 + ECS Blower

Buddy of mine had a 2009 Z06 he wanted to put a supercharger on, we called my buddy Chris over at East Coast Supercharging and he hooked us up with one of his basic blower kits. The car is bone stock minus the supercharger and injectors. Bone stock it made 390/410 on a Mustang Dyno. Added the supercharger and our best pull was 525/540 on winter blend fuel and 7-8 degrees of timing @ 7# of boost. Owner couldn't be happier and the kit works flawless with no signs of belt slippage. With a spec 93 octane fuel and a few more degrees of timing it should pickup a solid 30rwhp.

Im nobody to insult his car at all, however, the #'s do seem low. But, But, dyno #'s dont mean **** and Im sure the car flat Beats *** on the streets. The only reason I would think the #'s seem low is my local tuner says the ls2 vettes they tune with this charger kit make 630rwhpish with 8lbs and full exhaust, so??? Very nice car BTW...

Not taken as an insult at all. Your local tuner will tell you that there are going to be different numbers on different dynos. Case in point, I built a 2005 C6 a couple years back, tuned it and it laid down 496 on a dynojet. The owner wanted to redyno it and make sure the tuneup is perfect before he took it to the track, on the mustang dyno it made just a click over 425 which is about 70rwhp difference.

That car at the track with a new driver goes 127-128mph very easily. Its got 129/130mph in it with a seasoned driver. With that being said there is more left in the tuneup on the Z06.

Winterblend(10-15% ethanol) fuel kills 3-5 degrees of timing
Stock exhaust
7.1# of boost tied to 8 degrees of timing due to the fuel

Your tuner will tell you that most of these setups will end up at 14-15 degrees of timing at 8psi. Not making excuses just stating the facts. The exhaust is probably worth 10-15rwhp and the timing is probably worth 20-25rwhp

525 + 70rwhp dyno difference + 15(exhaust) + 25 fuel/timing, gets you right around 630 on a dynojet.

Well, I say hell yea! I love these ECS kits! Tuned quite a few and they always do great. And I know all too well about the differences in dyno numbers. Before and after on the same dyno is all that really matters, imho.

Anywho, congrats!!

I wasn't 100% happy with the 390 to 525 considering the engine size and other stuff but there is room to grow like I said before.

assuming that all ls7's really do put down 505 at the crank with the factory exhaust, the dyno is showing a 22.8% loss through the drivetrain on that mustang dyno. taking the new number (525rwhp) and equating the 22.8% loss to get the engine horsepower shows the new power to be 680 hp at the crank. At only 7 lbs. of boost and low timing, i'm sure there is a decent amount left on the table, and assuming the drivetrain loss on that dyno is correct, nearly 700 hp at the crank is nothing to snare about, especially with what is assumed to be an untouched motor, other than the blower. Nice numbers, and i'm sure the owner is enjoying the hell out of that thing out on the streets

Mustang dynos are notorious for low numbers, it's well known. A dynojet would yield much higher numbers (but it wont make the car any faster ) lol

Winterblend(10-15% ethanol) fuel kills 3-5 degrees of timing
While winter blend might be a little worse off than summer blend, both have 10-15% ethanol now...pretty much the standard. And the fact that it has ethanol in it means it's actually better for making power than straight gasoline. Current 93 is like a mini e85.

Not sure if you will really be able to pump up 5* of timing just with summer gas, unless the car was tuned on 91 and summer it will be on 93 octane.

First I'd say the dyno was never calibrated which is why it reads low.I have a Mustang dyno and it had to be done or the #'s end up way too low.

2nd, sounds like the car was tuned off the stock KR settings. The E-38's in the Vette's WILL pick up alot of false KR from the blower belt setup. It just has to be adjusted. I will run 12-14 degree's at that boost level and the 427ci picks up 160-180rwhp ussually.

Atleast it's safe for now.

Gotta like the restrictor plate in those kits that keeps the torque high.
