550 out of a 402 is a lot to ask.

I think that cam is a little on the small side. It's good for great overall power, but not great for chasing a number. You could swap out a cam with a 251/259 profile or similar, but you'd probably be no faster even if you hit 550...

Agreed!

Just hoping this cam isn't overscavenging since the exhaust side of a TFS head flows better than anything out there...270cfm on the exhaust @.600" wowzers!

I wonder what a 247/249 113-114* LSA would have done for me. I feel like these heads could do with more intake duration and less exhaust knowing what I do now...

Once I can get my dyno graphs uploaded and resized I'll start a new thread and have the pros critique.

Opening the exhaust valve later will hurt top end power. Opening it earlier will increase top end power.

What would the Tick gang have cammed this thing at using LSL lobes knowing my power goals, heads, and intake setup?

I think 247/255 on a 114* +3* advance would be more optimal for 7000rpm use without killing the torque too much, but I am still figuring out what works. I have seen guys running 246/250 cams on 112-113* LSAs and they make neck snapping torque, so duration numbers really only tell a fraction of the story for valve events.

Hope the Fast 102 and 3" exhaust being fabbed for me bring me closer to the goals!

Why would you have such a late intake valve close event? There is no need to close the intake valve that late on a 4" stroke motor with a fast intake. That's going to lose low speed/mid range torque along with cylinder pressure.

I also don't like using LSL lobes on the exhaust side of larger engines. I like a slower exhaust lobe to help add seat to seat overlap at TDC and aid in scavenging.

What would I do?
