Agreed on the cfm requirements. I had one on my LS7 in my Camaro and it was certainly holding it back from breathing through the heads that flowed 400 cfm. But the hood is not even the issue at that point. The wiper cowl is the main thing. Any taller than an LSXR and your cutting it and possibly losing the wipers or having to fab something up.

Here's Mine.
My heads aren't ARE, MAST or any other super high performance head out there. Just plain ol' 799 Stage II heads....LAST set of ported heads MTI had before they closed down in 2008
I am running E85 with EWP. ALso, LS7 clutch with Aluminum Flywheel.

I know Pat G had a post about the overall impressions that the lsxrt made on a set of 317 heads. Not sure on the motor size but the gains will show you why there is not even close to enough plenum volume in a fast lsxr for any type of good head attached to it. If you ever get a chance to get around a superflow have someone mock up a good flowing head and then attach even a ported lsxr and watch .

Its just we all have to buy the lsxr because of cowls, wipers, not wanting to run a 4"cowl, etc etc. I have contacted fast about some type of mid height intake between the two and basically got told to go kick rocks through a cornfield .

I could get an lsxrt because im doing an LQ9 swap on a 300zx and dont have to worry about cowl problems. Just that I would have to cut a hole in the hood and run some big azz hoodscoop. That will ruin the look of the car and I'm good. If I want anymore power I will just add a Maggie (that'll fit without cutting the hood)..done...lol.

Patrick G's G8 has over 500 with AFR 230V2 and something like a 234/234 cam. I believe a lot of people wound consider that a smallish cam.
