Generally these cars dyno a tad over 300RWHP bone stock, and Ive seen cars as high as 320RWHP bone stock. Bolt-on only cars will easily make 350RWHP.
Take the car to a drag strip and see what it runs, that will be a good indicator of how well its running. Dynos are a tool for tuning, you have to take the numbers with a grain of salt.
Also post pics of the engine bay, and under the car of the exhaust, we can tell you if its stock or not.
Id love to have some of that Koolaid you be drinking I dont know anyone nor have seen anyone here in arizona dyno a stock 98-02 trans am or camaro and put down 300 rwhp lol where on earth are you getting this info from ?

I honestly wouldn't worry about the dyno numbers.
id tune it up and enjoy it.

Around here they is a 20hp difference between a mustang dyno and a dyno jet with the mustang dyno being on the low side.
I believe it was a dyno jet.
What state are you in mike?

My stock 99 z28 made 300.3/324.0 with 5k miles on Livernois Motorsports DJ. I didn't even have a lid, but the air cleaner was removed.

Maybe their dyno was generous because they acted like this was about average if not a tad above average.

ETA: best pass in that car stock was 13.29 @108.5 in decent summer air.

I've been on their DO as well. From what I can tell it's very comparable to others

Seems a little low, if it was mine I would do a compression test, clean the MAF,etc

I was there at Car Craft, parked right in front of the dyno. I didn't happen to see your car up on there, but I may have been walking around or something.

The dyno is a Dynojet mounted on a trailer. It's the old Andy Wicks 'Dynotune' setup. Andy sold it last year to this company called Powerhouse. The numbers they were giving out were STD corrected, just FYI.

Can you post a picture of the graph? Could be that the low numbers are attributed to the stock MAF being faulty or dirty (very common on these), and/or a bad tune in the pcm if it was tuned previously by someone.

I know a couple local guys in the tuning field that could fix you up if you're interested.

Typically a stock ls1 car is close to 300rwhp.

If it's cammed there is something wrong with it. Could be the tune, could be the cam has already lost some lobes, etc.

Either way you can start by: cleaning the MAF, making sure you are running 91 or better fuel, change fuel filter, new plugs and inspect wires to replace if necessary, check air filter, make sure you are seeing full throttle at the throttle body, etc.

About 5 min with the search function and google.
While there are certainly some that put down less than 300rwhp stock, there are MANY that put down over 300RWHP bone stock.

My 01 M6 SS put down 317/33x on ProDyno's DJ, bone stock. With a lid, full exhaust and NicD tune, went 344/351. Then once cammed and retuned, 411/371. Sorry dude but even here in AZ it's possible. All my track times backed up my numbers too.

OP, I'd suggest doing all basic maintenance and make sure the TB is opening all the way. Search function will serve you well and put you on the right track. Lots of info and writeups available.

Im not saying its not possible but people on here make it seem every single bone stock 98-02 puts down 300 hp at wheels when fly starts at 305 lol.

Hell I just ran mine on dyno and graph shows smooth and all but the numbers dont match mods somethings up

mind if i ask where did you have your car dyno at ?

Well you didn't know these cars made 300RWHP, so its a safe assumption.

The flywheel isn't 305hp though, its 350hp. An LS1 is an LS1 is an LS1. These cars were purposely underrated from the factory to distance them from the Corvette which got the exact same LS1, which was rated at 350hp.

a corvette does have a better intake, and better exhaust. but im sure that wouldn't make a huge difference... and the 1998 firebird LS1 is different then a 99-02 for some reason.... (FYI, I sell used auto parts and my system is built off of dealer info)

The stock Corvette intake and exhaust were hardly better. Everything else on the actual engine was exactly the same.
Year differences are in the FAQ sticky in the newbie section:

Also touches on the BS HP ratings:
